POLL: Would you be offended, or feel complimented...

POLL: Would you be offended, or feel complimented...

If you were an up and coming singer and someone asked you to sing 'your song' live at a party?

My DH has a really good friend. I invited this friend and his girlfriend to DH's 30th Bday party. (at a hall, with DJ...)

Anyway, the girlfriend has a song that's been playing on the radio. She also sang the song at Beatstock over the summer.

So, since she's coming to his party...I was going to ask her if she'd sing her song...would that be rude for me to do??? I really don't know the right answer

I would think she would be flattered. You're asking her to sing, not demanding that she does. Worst case scenerio she says no.

true! She is SO sweet! And, VERY outgoing. I first thought 'I HAVE to make the DJ play her song for her' then I thought, 'well, shouldnt' she SING it???'

I don't think it's rude to ask - she'd probably be honored. I would just approach her to see how she feels about it and tell her there is absolutely no pressure and that you would totally understand if she wasn't up for it. It can't hurt to ask! Now you have me curious...who is it????

As long as you ask in a way that allows her to gracefully back down- say something about you being honored if she would sing it but understand if she wants to just enjoy being a guest (I'm sure that could be worded better!)

My guess, she'd be flattered and enjoy having the oportunity to widen her audience. I'm sure she'd be happy if you gave her a little plug letting people know that she's more than a good voice- that it's on the radio, etc.

Plus, if she says yes, what a great touch!

ETA: I'm curious too!!

i bet she would be honored that you asked her to sing...but if not, what have you got to lose? the worst that can happen is that she would say no

I'm a singer myself, and I've been asked to sing at a few friends' weddings. If I actually had a singing career, I'd be happy for the extra exposure.

Now, if she came up to you and asked to perform at your DH's party, that'd be another story. But I think it's safe to assume that she'll be happy to oblige.

I definitely dont think it would be rude, I think she would take it as a compliment even if she decides not to

Speaking as someone in entertainment, I think generally people will take any exposure they can get. Ask her but just make sure she knows it's ok if she says no
