I've heard most doctors suggest you wait about 3 months mainly for your cycle to become regular again so it will be easier to calculate conception and due date.

Exciting Ronie!!!!!!
Mine said to wait but my SIL's told her she can start as soon as she stops the pill & that is when she'll be most fertile...trying to see what the general concensus is.

Re: Poll...Does your dr. want you to
well I think you can try right away and if you conceived right after coming off the pills, the baby would be fine. However I don't believe you would be most fertile right after getting off the pills. It just doesn't make sense to me. The pill suppresses ovulation, if you don't ovulate then you can't conceive. Most people I know who have been on pills for several years, it takes them man months to regulate their cycles i.e. this month it's 34 days, next month 29 days etc, it's hard to pinpoint ovulation w/o a ovulation detector in that instance. I'd say try all you want after you stop taking the pills but don't expect it to happen immediately. Also if your cycles are really off then ask your doctor about taking Provera. A few friends took that to regulate their cycles and I'm thinking of getting it too (just because my cycles vary so much after being off BC for about a year now).

I think they recommend you to 'prepare' for the pregnancy. The 2 to 3 months is usually so they can do blood tests, start you on pre-natal vitamin, etc.. In short, make sure you are OK.
You can get pregnant right away. I never heard of problem with the baby.
Like most drugs, it takes about 6 months to 1 year to clear up your system.

that's ridiculous. def get a second opinion. i heard the only reason dr's tell you to wait is so they can better pinpoint the conception and therefore the due date. i know plenty of women that get preggers right away after coming off the pill.

My doctor's exact words when I told her I was going off the pill was 'be like bunnies!' She said your hormones kick right in and it is completely possible to get pregnant the month after you stop the pill.
I stopped the pill the end of October after our wedding and took a hpt today.... came back positive!!! Oh boy!!!
