Pool is a gift? What does gift mean?

I see some listings where they will list something 'as a gift'.

Usually they refer to a pool.... and they say 'pool is a gift'.


What does this mean? Obviously if you sell a house you wouldn't be taking a pool with you so why would you call it a gift?

My only thought is... maybe they don't have a CO for it and thats their way to not get involved or be responsible for getting the CO.

If that is true... what can be done about this?

that can be very true... it can also be that they dont want to be responsible for it if it dosn't work...

basically, a couple of things can be done about it... you can have them remove the pool... or you can just take it... not all morgage lenders will require a c/o for a pool... they will over look it... we just bought a house with a pool, however it wasn't listed as a gift... when we found out it didn't have a c/o and needed one (the decking is what really needed the c/o) we had a couple of options... 1. have them rip it out and reduce the price of the house (which if the pool was a gift, the price of the house would remain the same) 2. make them get a c/o. or 3. see if we can get a morgage without the c/o

what we ended up doing was having them put in the contract that we would take the pool without a c/o but if a c/o was needed by the morgage company, they would obtain one, otherwise we were going to have them rip it out and have them reduce the price of the house...
