Pool question

Pool question

Aren't you required to put up a 6 foot fence if you are installing a pool? Does the fence have to go up first or can it go up after pool construction has already started?

How do I find out about this?

Re: Pool question

Every town has different laws for fences & pools. Some require a fence to be around the pool, others just require the backyard to be fenced in. Call the town where you live to find out specifics.

It has to be 6 foot in Islip town, and if it is stockaid it has to have the smooth side out, so no one can climb it. Also I think once the pool is filled it has to be up, but if you contact the town about the pool you will have to get a CO and I believe your taxes go up.

I know this because my Mom went threw this with the town.

I've seen some newly built houses with new pools. The fence did not go up until after the pool and landscaping/pavers were complete. I'm not sure if it was before or after water was added to the pool.

My parents just put in an in-ground pool and they have a year to put up the fence I think that's insane!

Bohemia. They're putting it up as soon as they can, but I still think it's ridiculous! Oh, so for a year it's ok if someone falls in

Re: Pool question

Most towns that I know of require you to have at least a 4 ft fence fencing in your entire back yard. I know thats the deal for the township of Huntington.

You probably need the yard open to build the pool so trucks can get through but before yuo put water in it it should be fenced in. God forbid a little kid got back there or something...

Not in Islip...they literally give you a year, even with the pool filled up. Crazy.

Or at least in Bohemia
