Okay, so this is my problem. I have really BIG UGLY pores on my face and I need something to make them smaller. I've tried pore reducing facial masks and cleansers but none have worked so far. Anybody have other suggestions? TIA!

Re: Pores
i hate my pores too. i use biore pore strips about once a week. i also wear make-up everyday and use a primer underneath my foundation to hide them. and after washing my face i use a toner to keep the pores clean - you want a toner w/ syclic acid - but dont use too much or you'll dry out your skin.
if that doesnt work to reduce their visibility - go to a dermatologist - see if they can help.
good luck

Re: Pores
Hey, The only reason that your pores are 'big' are because they are full of dirt and pollutants. You have to extract them. You can either get a facial and they'll do it. This usually takes 2 times. Or you can do it yourself, but you MUST be very careful. 1) Wash your face with warm water and cleanser. 2) Steam open pores. Boil water, take off stove and place on table, cover your head with a towel and lean over the pot. BE CAREFUL. Do this for 5-10minutes. 3) using your pointer fingers lightly roll fingers parallel on nose and squeeze out blackheads. Go easy. You don't want to squeeze too hard or you could break a blood vessel and it will give you a scar.
Do u live by stony brook? I am a esthetician and have a private salon out of my house.

Re: Pores
I have large pores too and they are not full of blackheads. Large pores can just be a hereditary thing unfortunately - I get mine from my mom. I went for a facial and will continue to go every 6 - 8 weeks until my wedding at Mario Badescu in NYC....I highly recommend! Facialist to the stars and basic facial is only $65. It's not very spa-like...more like a dr's office but it's just what you need. I bought a few of their products - one being a pore tightening mask that is definitely working for me...you should try it out.
Thanks guys! Unfortunately, I am looking for something to do at home that will help. I live out by the Hamptons and I have 3 kids, so time and money are very, very precious commodities, lol!

Re: Pores
Clinique has a new line of pore minimizing products - I've been using the moisturizer and the instant perfector and they seem to be working pretty well. The instant perfector is a great quick fix. Try it at the counter next time you're at a department store and see if you like it - they'll do it for free.

I go to Mario Badescu's too! The first Thursday of every month at 5:30pm. They are great and very reasonable. And the cost of the products is reasonable as well.

Re: Pores
I have been working in the cosemetics industry for almost ten years and have gone to school for skin care and can tell you that unfortunately nothing will actually 'shrink' large pores. You can minimize their appearance and keep them extra clean which makes them appear smaller but nothing changes their actual size. They may shrink temporarily or appear to shrink temporarily but they do NOT change in size.
Joeys Cosemtics makes a great skin care line. It is sold at Ulta or Ulta.com The pure pores mask is awesome. IT leaves your skin so tight and clean, but only use it 1-2 per week or it may cause drying.
