I went to Portugal a few years ago. I went to this great tiny little town called Sagres in the Algarve. There was a beautiful hotel there called hotel de Beliche. It was on a cliff overlooking the ocean. It was a remodeled fort and only had 4 rooms. It was very popular with couples. Only downside is that the town is truly tiny. You wouldn't want to stay there for more than 3 or 4 days. There is a small beach in the town too, but no beach front hotel.

I've been there three times. To the Algarve area in the south once, which is the most popular tourist area, but I loved the Estoril/Cascais area, North of Lisbon and Troia, which is an island off Setubal just South of Lisbon. I love Portugal. FM me if I can answer any questions.
