Re: Possible wedding date
I agree 1000%...that's what I say about any wedding day, and location as well...for a while, we were looking at far out palces and my mom would say, 'will they come?' and my response was always, 'it could be across the street from their house and they won't come if they don't want to...don't sweat it and enjoy your day, no matter when you want it!

Re: Possible wedding date
Well....
Honestly? Probably.
One of my best friends got married two weeks before Christmas two years ago and a lot of people couldn't swing going to the wedding or had other plans or obligations.
People who love you will be there no matter what though.

I'm having real issues with this date, b/c we changed RH they don't have that many dates available with the price we were looking for. I don't want 2 spend the extra money, but I know people go out of town, having other obligations during that time of yr.

i agree with the other posters the people who are important to u, will be there no matter what. also u can send out save the dates in february so people who usually go out of town will know that they might have to reschedule their plans. good luck!!

Exactly. I was having a similiar problem when I was booking my reception hall. I really fell in love with a place that was about 1hr and 30mins away from where I live..and I felt that no one would go beceause it is so far away. But then I asked all the girls onthe site what they thought and most of them gave me the answer which you are getting to this post 'If they want to come they will come no matter what' and same goes to ur question. Yes its close to Christmas but if they want to be there they will make it their buisness to be there.

I agree with most of the other girls, the people who want/need to be there will be. Those most important to you will definitely figure out a way to be there. I would DEFINITELY send out save the dates though during the early summer, this way if there are people who do trips for Christmas and the holidays can maybe put them off and plan around your wedding-instead of having to cancel their reservations.

Re: Possible wedding date
I agree with the ladies. If people want to share this day with you they will come no matter what day it is. However because its around the holidays give your guests plenty of notice ahead of time. People plan holiday trips at least 6 months ahead, so I would get started on STD's once you have your hall booked. This way they will know ahead of time not to book trips. HTH

Re: Possible wedding date
its a great date. It doesn't matter what date you get married! It is your day, everyone who needs to be there, will! I went to a wedding 2 years ago in a major blizzard. Nobody could drive, all major roads were closed, flights cancelled, etc. Somehow, all 180 guests got there....on time I may add. Do not worry about the date....don't even ask anyone. Do what you want to do...its YOUR wedding.

Re: Possible wedding date
It's true people who want to go will be there-- your true friends and loved family--- however, that doesn't mean they wont be annoyed or find it to be an inconvenience... Some people will LOVE the idea of a celebration of your wedding around the happy holidays and others will view it as a financial burden & blah blah--- If that is the date you want-- MAKE YOURSELF HAPPY.... but if you are on the fence-- try to find another date with less possible issues.

Re: Possible wedding date
i've got to say that it would really be a hard date for me, especially if I had to travel. just consider that the week of Christmas is a very expensive week for travel- so anyone who needs to fly in or whatever for the wedding is going to be paying through the nose. Also its really a tough time for people who are already spending alot of money on holiday shopping to also come up with the money for a wedding gift as well, and possibly money for a hotel that night, or a new outfit, etc. If it was family or a good friend I would still go, but it would really make things financially tough for me. if you could avoid that week i would, just to make life easier on your guests.

Re: Possible wedding date
Honestly, i would change the date....
I was seriously considering the same date for my own wedding. i loved how all the halls were decorated for the holidays, all the awesome floral and decorating ideas a Christmas wedding would lend itself too, how gorgeous the church would look, etc. etc.
however, i abonded that idea once i thought about all the OOT and overseas guests that wouldn't be able to come.... the cost of travel is WAY up that time of year and it's so crazy, flights, trains, etc. are delayed. also, we thought about our family members with children. christmas is a special time for kids and it would be hard for them to do both.
also, many people have their own traditions for christmas and might not be able to continue with those PLUS a wedding...
in my opinion, i would change the date.... perhaps you can go with another date in december or do it the weekend after.... there are 12 days of christmas after all
