Possibly Missing Wedding Envelopes...Need Advice!!

We got married last Sunday and we went through all of the envelopes and gifts, we realized that we were missing about 4-5 people's gifts. We searched everywhere and called the hall...

One of the people who were missing was DH's co-worker and he asked him casually and he said he got us something off the registry...now we're thinking that maybe these people just stiffed us...or are we supposed to ask them??

I just want to make sure that we didn't loose it...here are the relationships, any advice would be really appreciated!!! we already checked the registry for these people..

1- Really good friend of mine for that past 5-6 years
2- Distant Cousins: couple in their 40's and a single woman: Their parents gave us a check but only signed their names on the card so we didn't think it was from the kids also...
3 - Groomsmen: gave us a check for the tux rental but no wedding card

i hate to say it...but you were probably stiffed
after our wedding we had about 20 people that we didnt receive gifts from (co workers, family, friends etc) and we thought the same thing. Turns out we got checks and gifts in the mail the following week or two. We still havent received gifts from about 8 people and we arent asking. I would assume if someone gave you a check if you dont cash it in a month or two they will contact you to make sure you got it. technically you have 1 year to give a gift so i wouldnt ask.

Did any of the missing checks have cards? If there's a card and no check, then I wouldn't say anything....but no card and no check - I would def mention it, you don't want their check in the wrong hands if it got lost...at least they'll know to cancel it.
