Possibly stupid question about groomsmen

Are groomsmen always the same as ushers?
Or do you choose entirely separate people as ushers?

I believe they are the same.. The groomsmen are the ushers

You could do it either way.
the best man usually stands at the front with the groom & the groomsmen can usher in the guests. We only have one groomsman, so we may enlist my brother as an usher, but I wanst it to be clear that its not a bridal party position- he won't wear a tux, but he'll have a bouteniere, and he was probably going to sit with the bridal party anyway.

That's what I thought, but FH wants his GM by his side before the ceremony - he doesn't want them ushering guests...hmmm...
