nope.. we aren't going to do that.. that's why we had a 2 year engagement so we wouldn't have tp stress about taking out a loan. I know some people that have though...

Re: post from BHB - Loans
we have a ton of debt from school - totaling $350,000 - so I'm not worried about more debt. If we don't take the loan, there's no way I'll be able to pay for it...

There is nothing wrong with taking out a loan to pay for your wedding. I would start with your local bank where you have established accounts. It would be considered a personal loan and those loans run the highest interest rates. See what they offer and then shop around.
A few tips:
Make sure you ask if you have to pay a penalty or a premium if you pay it off early.
Are you a member of a credit union or can you join one through a job or an organization? (civil servant? teacher? union?) Credit unions tend to have lower rates and more forgiving terms.
Any chance either one of you is still in school?

Thanks! FH is still in school, but he's maxed out for student loans and goes full time so he needs all of the money...
I'm going to check out our banks... thanks for the positive encouragement and help!

I dont see anything wrong with it-we arent but thats b/c we just dont want to have it hanging over us, also a reason we had such a long engagement. If you know you are responsible enough to pay it when the bill comes why not-I say go for it
