I've posted previously that I hand cancelled my invitations August 2nd.
It seems like everyone outside of Long Island is receiving them without a problem however the ones on the Island are a total mess.
1. I sent them from our local post office to our address (mine & fh). I received mine 6 days later, fh received his 10 days after I sent them. 2. I sent 4 to the same address in Dix Hills (1 aunt, 1 grandma, 2 cousins) only 1 has been received (my cousin). My grandma called with a nasty message asking if they were invited to the wedding because so far only cousin has received his ( she's kind of a pita). 13 days, they still haven't received them. 3. A very good friend in Massapequa still hasn't received his (13 days...) 4. My mom's housemate received their invitation on August 3rd (only 1 day later) but my mom didn't receive hers until yesterday (12 days!) and it was CRUMPLED, WITH A FOLD DOWN THE MIDDLE, 1/2 OPENED & CHOCOLATE ALL OVER THE BACK OF THE ENVELOPE!
I spent so much money (kind of over budget ) for the invitations and the calligraphy so they could look a certain way and I put in a lot of effort to try to ensure they would be delivered quickly & efficiently and there's still drama.

Re: Post Office Problems - Getting Worse
I would go to the post office you mailed them from and complain. Bring your Mom's invite she received tattered as an example!!! Better to complain to them than not do anything!

and when that doesn't work, call the 800 number and file a recorded complaint. i've done it...you'd be shocked at what happens...i received a long typed apology letter from the beast in hicksville.

Re: Post Office Problems - Getting Worse
still no new recipients after today but the support and suggestions definitely make me feel better I'm kind of nervous to say something at the post office (what if they take out their resentment on me and sabotage my rsvp's?). But I think I will call the 800 number and complain, this just isn't right...

Re: Post Office Problems - Getting Worse
That really stinks. What post office did you mail them from? I mailed mine from the wantagh post office and everyone got their invites pretty fast.
Here are some hugs....

Re: Post Office Problems - Getting Worse
Yeah, 2 of mine didn't get delivered at all (both to LI; sent from Manhattan - the huge Grand Central Post Office). One I re-sent, and it still didn't get there... the address was correct. Seems like the postal workers don't really care out here.

Re: Post Office Problems - Getting Worse
I'm so sorry... I know the post office can't fix what they made wrong, but you definately should complain. They need to know that the service on LI has problems.
