post office questions

1) what post office did u go to that didnt give u any problems with hand cancelling/ whatever its called when it doesnt have to go through a machine at all?
- any good post offices in nassau that are good about this?

2) what do i ask for if i dont want it to go through a machine at all? ( i know there is hand cancelling but then i think it goes through some other machine and since i have a rhinestone buckle im afraid of that going through any machine)

3) whats the deal with stamps? i know the price went up but are there any decent looking stamps out there yet? or am i going to be stuck with some really ugly one? lol

TIA!!

I ended up getting the forever stamps for my RSVP's I was so disappointed because I wanted wedding stamps but oh well. No big deal right. The lady did say that with the price of everything going up forever stamps are the way to go with RSVP's because you never know but I can't imagine them going up again.

when you're ready for mail them out i hear going early in the morning is good, they usually wont hand cancel during busy times because it takes a while to hand cancel.

I am not sure about 1 and 2- I am interested in 1. As far as 3, there are lame ones at the post office so far....the only semi-ok ones are the Frank Sinatra ones. I ordered mine on zazzle.com and I got the 59 cent small size ones. They are a nice size for my envelopes...a little bigger than the standard size. I also did the one day shipping. They are great. I did regular liberty bells for my response cards because I don't really care. Good luck!

Re: post office questions

I used the Post Office in Centereach b/c I work across the street. They were really good about hand canceling them for me. She told me they would do a few at a time during the slow times, but assured me that they would all get done and go out that same day. FSIL called me yesterday that she got the invite and yes, it was hand canceled, so I know they did it. My dad says the Woodbury P.O. will do it, also, but I don't know any other P.O.'s in Nassau - sorry!

#2 I am honestly not sure about! If you have a special rhinestone buckle, I would show it to them at whatever P.O. and ask them if it'll be okay.

I didn't get any special stamps. We had to use $1 stamps on the invites, and there are only 1 kind. As for the RSVPs, we used the Forever stamps to save a little money.
