...so I put my invites through the regular way. Is that bad? They don't have any rhinestones or ridges, etc....but in the back of my mind, I'm still a little nervous. I've always read to have the post office hand cancel wedding invites. Should I be nervous?????

I didn't ask for anything to be hand canceled and we didn't have any issues. None returned to us and everyone I asked that received them got them in good condition. I wouldn't worry about it.

From what I read on the boards here they only need to be hand stamped if they have some sort of bow or embellishment that cant go through the machine.

I think they'll be fine. I only hand canceled because I had a bow. FYI the po in Williston park hand cancels but the clerk laughed when i asked if theyd do it he handed me the stamp told me to do it lol.

My invitations were not hand cancelled (I didn't have any thick embellishments on my invites though) and they made it safely & in one piece to my guests. Yours should be fine!

You can't worry about it now, in the future Lynbrook Post Office allowed my Mom to hand stamp, don't think they are suppose to though.

FYI, all the mail still goes through a machine whether it's hand cancelled or not. Hand cancelling only ensures that the stamp they use to cancel the stamp on the envelope is directly on the stamp and not to the side and some people think it looks better that way. Either way after you give the post office your invitation (hand cancelled or not) they all go into a bucket, then into a machine where the machine will sort by zip and then to another machine which is sorted by the way the mailman delivers the mail.

So in sort, no need to worry

Had mine hand stamped cause he said wouldn't fit in machine due to rhinestone and that it would crack my rhinestone.
Otherwise else wouldn't worry

It's the stamp they use that goes over the stamp on your invites. Kinda like to say you used this stamp so you can't take it off and use it again. Some girls get it hand cancelled which means it doesn't go through a machine to get stamped (which can come out crooked) but it will still go through a machine to get sorted
