post office!- wax seals, minor update...

so, I dropped off my thank you cards, yesterday. I had canceled them all because I did the wax seals on them and I didn't want them to get ripped in the machine.

So, after I finished, the guy told me that they will go through the machine anyway and that they might get ripped up.

So, my good friend's dad works at the post office and he just called there this morning to check up on them for me.

the guy told my friend's dad that there was supposed to be a 12 cent surcharge for each item that was hand cancelled. He never said anything like that to me!

Then he said that he did put some through okay, but the rest had to go through the machines (um...I still don't understand why)

And, now they just said for me to keep my fingers crossed.

update: okay, the ones that were in the same city as that post office arrived today in tact, no problems (8 thank yous out of 112)

I was talking to my friend's Dad again and he said that even if this post office didn't send them through the machines, there are machines all over the place that they (and ALL mail) will eventually have to go through.

He said that machines read the addresses on mail, NOT humans. The machines scan for the zip codes and then the machines sort the mail. I showed him one of my TY's with the wax seal and he is very doubtful that the rest will arrive in tact...

i was concerned that our invites with the wax seals and all the calligraphy that i did by hand would look like a mess but i have gotten calls from so many guests about how gorgeous the invites were - i asked them what the envelopre, etc . looked like and ALL said it looked like they were hand deliverd.

what post office did you bring them to/? I brought mine to Hauppauge and a few to the huntington office. ( i used to work in hauppauge but i live in hunt.)

that was my biggest fear with wax seal!! I hope that they do all come out in good condition through the delivery process! I am sure they are going to look great no matter what!I am sure if it is messed up some people won't even notice it!
