Post-wedding blues....

Post-wedding blues....

So I havent really been posting much since just before the wedding. Our wedding was beautiful and I loved it....but when they called last song of the night I just couldnt believe it was over. Since the wedding I've had terrible post-wedding blues. I can hardly talk about the wedding without getting upset I regret not adding an extra hour to the reception and I feel like I expected it to be so much more fun. I'm so mad at myself for feeling like this when everyone keeps telling us how beautiful and fun it was. And we're married, and thats what matters... but i just cant stop being depressed that its over I just wanted to pop on and share and vent to you ladies since you were always there for me before the wedding. im hoping these blues go away soon

Oh no Jenn!! I am so sorry you're going through this!!! It definitely will pass! I know it doesn't feel that way- but it will! Is there any new hobby or something you can plan to look forward to?

Re: Post-wedding blues....

the feeling WILL pass. try your best not to focus on the idea that 'the wedding is over' and be sad, remember that you had a great wedding and focus on your memories of that thing itself.

we set ourselves up for this sometimes by spending soooo much time on all the details and minutia of ONE day. you are married to the man of your dreams, and you had the greatest day ever, now starts the rest of your life!

Re: Post-wedding blues....

Hey, date twin! I've heard that it happens a lot. I'm a little sorry that it's all over, because it was such a beautiful day and it went so fast. But I know we had a beautiful wedding and everyone enjoyed it. I'm sure you did too.

Don't be depressed. You have your whole life ahead of you. And, the good part is you don't have to do any more wedding planning! Yay! Man, I was getting SO stressed those last couple of weeks. I'm happy it's over and that we're married. I love being married.

Part of the problem, I'm sure, is that you spent so much time doing wedding planning for so long you now don't know what to do with yourself. What you need is another project, not a wedding-related project either, like doing a scrapbook. We're starting to look at houses, and are starting a house-hunting blog. In fact, I want to write an entry today about the Silence of the Lambs house we toured this afternoon.

Find something else to do for a while to get your mind off the wedding. Can be anything from taking a class to deciding to get into some seriously good shape. Or work on your home, do some painting, redo a room, something to keep yourself busy.

Don't be depressed! I'm sure you had a wonderful day, and now you're married to the love of your life. There's nothing to be depressed about there.

I'm so sorry you're feeling this way!!! I have to be honest, I am scared sh*tless that I'll feel the same way!! FH & I have dated for almost 7 years....I've looked forward to this for so long and now I'm dreading it coming & going so fast that I won't know what hit me. I agree with the other girls, focus on something new that's exciting, yet not wedding related. we were going to make ourselves nuts and start this huge renovation project on our house (extending our 2nd floor & dormered roof) before the wedding, but I decided that at least if we wait then we'll have something to work on together after the wedding!! I hope the blues pass for you soon!!

Hey Jen- don't worry. I am still going through it but I think I may be at the end phase. The yearning for my day back has gone away. It's hard bc there are lots of 'i wish' es but you can't take the day back so try to focus on the great time you had.

**PLUS- soon a bunch of us are getting together at my house in our wedding dresses to watch the FRIENDS episode where they did the same thing. I'll add you to the list!

That sounds like so much fun! I'm totally doing that after the wedding

Jenn, I'm sorry you feel this way I hope the blues pass soon. I agree with everyone else who suggested finding something new to focus on. I was just talking to FH about this the other day. I was telling him that I know I'll be a little sad when the actual wedding day is over, but I will not miss planning at all. I can't wait to just be married to him. Plus, our lives are so hectic, I won't have time to miss the wedding!

I think what your going through is normal. You put all this time and energy into planning this day. Of course there is going to be sadness now that it is over. As time passes and you begin focusing on other things you will feel better!

Re: Post-wedding blues....

I honestly went through the samw thing. . I went through a stage where I was depressed and very sad that the wedding was over. I even called my DOC and asked if this was a normal feeling, and it is.

Sometimes it's all the stress and lack of sleep and then the day arrives and it truly goes by in an instant. I'm looking through all my proofs now and just want to do it all over again beecause I look at some oictures and don't even remeber taking them. Try and look at the big picture, it's the two of you forever and ever and that is the most important part of your wedding day.

Hope you feel better
