I wanted to post this on the NW board, but with all the talk about who is posting what where, I figured I'd just post it here.
Ok, so after we all get back from our honeymood, all that we've been working for is over. I don't mean to say it won't be so exciting to be starting our married lives, but we work so hard, plan so much, spend so much for one day and then it's over so quickly.
Did anyone have a sense of sadness at that? It's like Christmas Day, after dinner as the day winds down, it's sort of sad because the day you've been building up for so long has just passed.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Re: Post wedding blues?
My FH has been talking about this alot lately. The way I look at it, we have so much more to plan together. Being free and starting our lives together. Finding furniture for my new apartment, planning my open house party, cooking, gardening, thinking about starting a family, planning vacations, just being a MRS. There is so much to do after the wedding you don't even realize.
That's why they say a wedding lasts a day, a marriage lasts a life time.

Re: Post wedding blues?
I think sometimes I still miss all the planning and execution of it all. For like, weeks after my wedding I was like: 'okay, don't I have something I should be doing/following up on?' and also 'where did all the people go?' was another thought I kept having! LOL! When planning a wedding is like a second job, it's only natural to feel a bit of a void and feel a little glum, but don't worry, you are not alone in feeeling this way! The boards actually can really help you relive your experience by helping others!

Re: Post wedding blues?
I think I'll miss the sense of excitement, but I won't miss keeping track of all the details and making all the phone calls, or running around in 20 directions at once.
Plus, I'm moving after the wedding, and living with my FH for the first time. Settling in with him should fill in the gaps of time that would have been spent wedding planning. Shortly after that, we're going to start looking for a new house for ourselves, so that will take up a lot of time, too, and be exciting.
While the wedding is such a special and important day, I think we can also get excited about our new day-to-day lives, and how it will change. The new freedoms some of us will find in being on our own for the first time, or some of us will have our first home, planning a family if that's what we want, or even just seeing our FHs on a daily basis will all be exciting new adventures. I see the wedding day as just the beginning, not the end. Instead of waking up the next morning and thinking, 'OMG, it's all OVER already!' We should say, 'Wow! This is just the start!!'

I was a little sad after the wedding... but afterwards we had so much to do- it was the first time FH and I lived together- so we are able to share so many new experiences together. Maybe if you live together and after the wedding you are in the same apt/house it's a little sad.. but you just need to keep your mind on the wedding.

Re: Post wedding blues?
My wedding was 3/30 and I can't tell you how happy I am that it's over with. It feels like a tremendous weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I don't have post wedding blues at all but I didn't really like the planning part of it. It turned out great and I had a good time and it was worth it in the end but I'm soo happy to just be married!!

Re: Post wedding blues?
Right after the wedding I was having trouble adjusting to not having things to think about or plan. I had spent so many train rides to work thinking about some aspect of the wedding that when I came back my head felt like a vacuum - empty.

Re: Post wedding blues?
Thanks ladies. I don't mean to imply I'll be empty once it's over, not at all!!! I was just curious how everyone else felt. FH and I just bought a house and are living in it together now. We're pretty set in our life, so I think when we get back from our honeymoon, it'll be business as usual. Although we can finally be open about living together - we have to hide it from his family for now... another story for another time.
But I will be very excited to be married to him! He's just so great!!
