Post-wedding discount for non-purchased registry items?

OK, I know I've read something about this, but can't remember where. Don't some stores give you a discount on items that you registered for, but weren't purchased, if you yourself want to buy them after the wedding?

If so, any ideas on which ones? We are thinking of registering at JC Penney's, Linens 'n' Things, or Fortunoff's, but I can't seem to find this policy on their websites.

I ask because what we need most of all is living room furniture. I would never expect guests to buy such big-ticket items (we are also registering for the normal housewares, etc.), so my only reason for putting it on the registry would be so we could get a discount later.

Re: Post-wedding discount for non-purchased registry items?

Thanks!

You know what, I just answered my own question...I called JC Penney and they give 15% I finally found the info on Fortunoff's and Linens 'n' Things and they both do 10%.

Anybody know of other registries that do this?

Re: Post-wedding discount for non-purchased registry items?

macy's will also give you a 10% discount before your wedding date as well... and anything your purchase off your registry with your macys credit card, you will get 10% off on your bill, then 5% of that purchase will go toward a gift card that you get after your wedding date... so it almost pays to buy it before the big day... (or just lie about your wedding date so you have some $$ to pay for it )

Re: Post-wedding discount for non-purchased registry items?

Bed bath & beyond does it
I heard macys is running something new that every item your guest buy you off your registry you get 5% of the total toward things that peopel don't buy --plus maybe 10% but I am not sure about the additional 10% so you might want to consider registering the big stuff there.

Re: Post-wedding discount for non-purchased registry items?

Fortunoff and BBB have a % off after wards. Maybe you should wait until right before the wedding to add the big ticket items. People might think you really want someone to spend that much on a gift. You can add to the registry right up until the day of the wedding.

Re: Post-wedding discount for non-purchased registry items?

I also wanted to add that I actually added things after the wedding that I thought I might want to buy, so I could get the %off
