Subject: We're Engaged!!!

I am so excited, I can't stop smiling & looking at my ring! Finally after 5 years and 2 months!!!

My head is spinning, I don't know what to do first ... but EVERYONE keeps asking me when the wedding is going to be. No big surprise there I guess, they've been asking when we're getting engaged for years now!

It hasn't even been a week yet, we just got engaged on Friday of Memorial Day Weekend.

What did you girls do first?!

Any cute ideas for asking the bridal party?

Just make sure to use the Search posts between: feature, and use the beginning of the month you joined for the first date field .... and a month later or so for the second date field (the pulldown menus)

I first had replies to other posts so I won't include them...
But I just discovered something...
on the day I made my post announcing the engagement, just a few hours before he proposed, I put a post out there asking question about churches because I knew the engagement was coming (you'll see why in a sec). Hours later - it happened! I totally don't remember posting that question just hours before it happened! So I'll post the engagement post instead cuz it's more fun.

POST: IT FINALLY HAPPENED! I'm ENGAGED!

WEEEHOOO!!! I still don't believe it.

I knew it was coming...we had gone shopping over a month ago, and one day I came home and saw a UPS slip saying it was the final delivery attempt from...David. Our jeweler was David S. Diamonds. So I put two and two together...called the FH (AAAHHH! I'm calling him FH NOW!!), asked him if he ordered anything UPS...he said....ummmm yeaahh ummm I requested some things. So he says he'll go to UPS the next day and pick it up there. The next day, he comes home with a box of shirts he ordered...telling me it was accidentally sent to our apt rather than his office. So I felt stupid assuming the delivery was the ring. Well...I couldn't resist. He left the box for the shirts in the kitchen- and it did not have our address on it! (uh duh!! Why didn't he throw it out?!?!)!! It was his office address! So he totally lied to cover it up! HAHAHA This was last Tuesday or Wednesday.

So today...I come home, and start to make dinner in the kitchen. He walks in with an envelope. He's a huge Steelers fan, but more importantly we are both huge Yankees fans and that's one of the reasons we met. So the whole time I'm thinking he'll propose at the Yanks/Sox game on Saturday. So anyway, I'm making dinner and he walks in with an envelope. I knew he was planning on buying me a Steelers jersey...so he takes it out of the envelope and I am geniunely happy and appreciative. I'm about to try it on when he says, 'But wait, it's a special edition jersey!' He turns it around, and right where the Steelers patch (with the three diamonds) is, he has another patch taped on top of it. I lift up the patch, and the ring is underneath! Talk about a real shock!!! He did it on a random Wednesday, in the most unexpected way!!

Sorry for the long story...but I'm excited as you can imagine!!!

My name is Michelle...I got engaged in May and my wedding is in November, and I love alpacas! I find LIW to be addicting!

Photography Cost $$$

I just had a consultation with Elite Photography in Bay Ridge Brooklyn and for 3 grand we would get a 10X8 leather bound album with 36 photos, unlimited proofs in color and black and white, 6 8X10s, 40 wallet. He will do 10 hours of coverage. Is this good??


This was my first post. I never introduced myself. I didn't know that is what the brides typically did here or on any forum.

I wish i would have actually READ the advice of the ladies who responded. I love my proofs, but I still feel like I could have gotten more bang for my buck.

good post idea Jess!! mine wasn't anything special.....but its funny b/c I found LIW in the first place b/c I googled Douglaston Manor and found some info on LIW!!! Hence my first post being all about my hall!


oh and btw, funny side note, I was worried about whether they'd book another party- which they could have had 2 weddings at once....but I lucked out b/c I was the ONLY party on my wedding day!! yay!

I'm considering Douglaston Manor for a September 2007 wedding. They recently completed renovations in March 2006- I was curious if anyone has been to a party there since? Or if you have any comments about the food or service in general.

We were looking at their larger room, which is T shaped- I'm not sure if I should be concerned about it being awkward.

Also, I was told that if they book more than one party, they keep start times 2 hours apart- has any one been to a wedding there when there's another party going on? I was worried about music traveling into the main room from the 'terrace' room.

After almost 6 years of dating....I'm so excited to be newly engaged, but already feeling the frustration of making decisions!!

wow!! i can't believe i was a lurker for over 4 months before i posted anything!!! i joined in 9/06 and didn't post ANYTHING until 1/07 and here is my first post (which is very easy to see from the beginning of it. LOL)

'this is my first post - i'm getting married 9/9/07, planning everything from tucson, az. thanks to the lack of time off work and distance, i've gotten little done so far. does anyone have suggestions for photographers or florists?!? i'm getting so tired of looking at websites and feel as if i'm going no where!!! any suggestions would be soooo welcome!! thanks ladies'

church and reception. Those who live
nearby will probably go home to get
dressed. My concern is those who live
further away and OTG. Should
we book a hospitality suite at
the hotel? Has anyone done this and is it crazy expensive?

Hi! I actually just started posting on this website... Im getting married December 1st! I just re-ordered my invites because the ones I got first came out horrible!! So I went somewhere else... I have alot of little things left to do, but im so excited I can't wait! Congrats to all of you!
