The Riviera in Massapequa. I agree with the girl who said it's not like any other place on Long Island. It's a completely different 'look' than your typical reception hall. So I think you either fall in love with it, or hate it instantly, depending on what you're looking for... In this picture you can see the lighted gazebo out in the back. So pretty!! My wedding is in 58 days! I'll give my review!
We are having our wedding at The Three Village Inn in Stony Brook. We loved it because it is very different from the 'typical' wedding catering halls. Its quaint and comfortable and the food is awesome. It's also a historical house and my FI is into all that stuff. We love it and its perfect for a smaller wedding. We're having about 100 guests.
Good luck with your search : )

Crest Hollow- love the outdoor gardens for pictures (hopefully it won't be cold). They give you alot of food and the price was reasonable. Love the room (Plaza) and the place has nice hotels near by because we have alot of out of town guests (FI's family is from NJ).

Lands End
We wanted a place on the water, one wedding at a time, and something a little bit more 'us' than most Long Island reception places - we're not into the glitz, just simple elegance. As Sandy mentioned, it has a warm classic feel to it - a renovated Tudor mansion with fireplaces and different areas to wander.
Also, the food and service there cannot be beat (same owners at Flowerfield and Vanderbilt Mansion - Lovin' Oven Caterers)

I'm getting married at the Vanderbilt Mansion in Oakdale. It's owned by Lovin' Oven Caters and they have a great reputation for food and service. They only do one wedding at a time so you have the whole place to yourself. I loved the atmoshere here, it's not a 'typical' reception hall.
Woodbury Country Club - - went to 4 weddings in the pass 2 years and the food is great and the grounds are beautiful.

Re: Post your reception hall...
I almost went with Westbury Manor but the thing I wanted the most was one wedding at a time so I kept searching. When I saw the Thatched Cottage I loved it, it had almost everything I wanted, a gazebo for a ceremony, outdoor/indoor cocktail hour, no rolling bars, and one wedding at a time. The price was good and they have a great cocktail menu. The only thing I'm not too crazy about is the dinning room, there's nothing too paticularly interesting about (but it does have a great view of the garden and water).
The Snuff Mill at the NYBG. We are having a very small wedding(70ppl.), so we did not want a place too big. The mill is beautiful and the outdoor ceremony site is amazing. It is run by Abigail Kirsch who has a great reputation. I found their prices to be resonable for the city. They also offer a huge menu.

Old Westbury Country Club...my FH grandparents are one of the few original members of this club. We spend a lot of special occasions there so the club was on the top of our list of places we wanted to get married at.
