Postage for stamps

Postage for stamps

I went by the post office today to have them weigh my invitation so I can find out how much the stamps will cost. I mentioned to them it's a wedding invitation. First the lady told me something like $1.17, and I was rather surprised by that. Then she was like oh no wait, I'm sorry $1.00. I was like wow really. She told me it goes according to the diameter of it these days and not really the weight or something like that.

I think I'm gonna go by another post office for a 2nd opinion because I just did not feel confident in what this lady was telling me. But on average, what are most people paying for the postage per envelope? I know my invitation is big, but I don't think it's anything crazy or out of the ordinary from other invitations I've received.

Also make sure if you DIY that you have the RSVP enevelope measured. I know we automatically thing it's 42cts but my friend did hers & envelope was alittle larger & she had to pay 59ct for RSVP.

My wedding envelopes were 59cts

If the size is awkward it will cost more. It doesn't just depend on weight, but the size as well. I would definitely go someplace else to get it re-measured and weighed. I brought my invite and the lady did it twice then had the person next to her do it as well. Thankfully mine were only 59 cents!

I had a square envelope and i paid $1 for each. I wound up getting the $.59 and $.42 love stamps to put one of each on each envelope. so it came out to $1.01 for each invitiation.
