Postage on Invites

OK I know absolutely nothing about this!!
I need your help.

How are you supposed to mail your invites?

What is hand canceling?

What are the options here?

FH is going to put them in the mail Tuesday and we need direction on this!

I appreciate ALL input..

They put your invite on the scale and weigh and measure it. That will determine the amount of postage you need per envelope.

Hand canceling is them stamping it rather then running it through the machine, potentially ripping your envelope.

Definately get them weighed before you mail them out.

I took our invite to the post office to be weighed. I bought stamps based on that. They were little wedding cakes. :o)

Then we brought them over and the lady said they'd be fine going through the machine... so they didnt' hand cancel them.

HTH!

I had to LEAVE my invites with the post office to be hand canceled -- which disturbed me greatly because I didn't trust them -- but all of the invites arrived in good shape. Some places let you hand cancel the invites yourself I think.

As for the postage, I took my sample 'keepsake' invite to the post office a few days earlier to determine the weight. Mine was pretty heavy but still fell within the 61 cent stamp range. It is also based on the size. My outer envelope is a standard A8 which is a normal, mailable invitation size.
