Postage Question

Is the size of the invitation a factor in the postage price? My invites are 8X8 inches, but light. Anyone know??

TIA!

Re: Postage Question

It has to do with weight-1 ounce and under is a regular stamp-usually wedding invites require a 63 cent stamp (until 5/14-this stamp is going down to 58 cents) this is good up to two ounces. Best bet is to go to the post office and have it weighed.

Go get it weighed, but I think it goes by weight unless it's a hugely oversized package.

Put the entire invite together and ask the post office to weigh it for you!

Also as another poster pointed out in a thread, if you are mailing your invites before 5/14 but expecting the RSVP cards after 5/14, you should put the new appropriate postage on the RSVP envelopes if you were planning on including the postage for that.

This may have some of the info you were looking for. The safest bet would be to have the post office determine what the postage should be.

Re: Postage Question

A square invite that is 1oz, requires more postage than a rectangular invite that is one ounce (the rectangle would require $0.39). At two ounces or more, both cost the same to mail.

Best thing to do is bring one to the post office to get it weighed and see what they say!

ETA: I just walked into our mailroom because they have a sign hanging there about the change in postage. The new rates are dependent on size, thickness, shape, etc so definitely go to the post office if your invite is 8X8.
