Postage Question

Ok Im VERY confused! I went to the post office before the postage change and I was told my invites would be $1.00 to mail and after the change it would be $1.05 only they dont make postage ANYWHERE for $1.05 so what do I do???

Plus I see SO many girls say that the same invitations as mine were only $.79 to ship and I dont get why mine are more?

I have Tessa's 5.75x5.75 pocketfold.

Can anyone help me with this? Im very confused as to what to do.

Thats true.

Thanx!

anyone else have any issues with mailing the invites? Or postage for the pocketfolds? I just want to make sure Im being told the correct amount.

The post office on 31st street in the city is the main branch right?

Re: Postage Question

I know that 'odd shaped' envleopes always cost more- which doesn't really make sense. But on top of that wedding invites especialyl with pocket folds cost more because of the weight which is probably why yours are so much.

You will probably have to put multiple stamps on. But search online at zazzle.com or if you go to the post office with one of those self service centers I THINK you can print stamps for whatever amount you want- but they won't be the most attractive.

Re: Postage Question

Thanx Yea I just looked at usps.com and zazzle so I think Im going to do a nice one for .95 on zazzle and then just put the ugly .10 one on from the post office. Gotta do what ya gotta do. at least 1 stamp will be pretty! LOL And Ill just use a nice .44 one for the response envelope.

Thanx ladies! =)) I really appreciate the help =)

Re: Postage Question

You can also check stamps.com and see if you c an design your OWN .10 stamp. So at least it wont be ugly!

Re: Postage Question

Postage is freaking annoying

at the branch on43rd street I initially weighed my invites $1.34

when I actually mailed some of them out last Saturday at local post office in Valley Stream they said it would be $1.84. So we had to buy additional postage to put on the invites.

This morning I went back to 43rd street to mail some more invites before heading to work and the guy said with the new postage it now costs $1.79. I told him about the discrepencies and he explained:

There are 3 sizes for first class mail-
First Class Mail standard size
Fist Class Mail envelope - must be bendable
First class Mail Package

He said Valley Stream was charging me based on First Class Mail Package and at 43rd street I was getting charged First Class Mail Envelope.

I HATE USPS!!!! Why can't they get their act together.

Re: Postage Question

UGHHH thats why Im sooo confused! My local branch told me $1.05, but I dont feel very confident in the person who told me this, she didnt speak English very well and she just seemed generally confused to be quite honest. =/ She seemed like when I was asking about hand canceling very lost about my question. I figured if I went to the main branch on 31st I had a better chance of confirming the actual price but it seems like no matter where you go you just get told different prices. =/ They really need to get their facts straight! This is TERRIBLY STRESSFUL! It really is and there is no 1 person to go to for a straight answer!
Because I had called usps to ask a question about hand canceling and she asked why are they charging you $1.05 that thats the price for an extra Large envelope over 6 inches which mine isnt and she further confused me.

They weighed it in the mailroom at my job and it only came up .61 but I also know THAT cant be right so I only further confused myself with that. But thats my own fault.

I'M SOOO CONFUSED! At this point I dont care how much it is, I just want to confirm a STUPID price so they dont GOD FORBID come back to me! Cause I will KILL SOMEONE if that happens!I just want to BUY postage and GET THEM OUT! LOL

And it would HELP if I even had them already which I SHOULD HAVE but thats a whole other story! LOL God willing they will be here tomorrow!

This has been stressing me out this whole week! GRRRRRRR! I need them to go out this weekend!

Re: Postage Question

I had the same exact problem with my invites - same size/vendor as you. Mine were 1.00 before the change and so I bought the two heart ones (one 42 cent and one 59 cent) so it was a penny extra for each invite but they were pretty stamps. But then I just had to mail out two more and it was 1.05 and so I had the two hearts (added up to 1.01 and then they gave me a 4 cent stamp) - at this point, I was like - good riddance!!!

Total PITA but the feedback I got on my beautiful invites was worth the annoying postage situation.
