Re: pots

I decided to go with Calphalon tri-ply stainless. It's a 13 piece set for $399

I love non-stick but they do not last as long. My current set which is cuisinart is starting to scratch so I figured the non-stick is much more expensive so I didn't want to register for them and then have to replace it in a few years. All the people I know who are real cooks say go with stainless and then get 2 non-stick frying pans for eggs, etc.

My aunt still has her stainless from her wedding shower over 40 years ago.

Re: pots

I went with all clad. All clad is supposed to be the best. I decided on a 14 piece set which is stainless steel. It's supposed to be healthy and really easy to clean up.

2010 bride here:

my FH is the cook & he only likes all-clad. since i wash the pots i can tell you that they are very easy to wash. i have also thrown them into the dish washer a couple of times & they came out amazing. he also uses Le Creuset cast iron pans. we have two of the 9' iron handle skillet. they were around $90 each. very expensive but they are amazing. i only hand wash these because FH would be furious if they were to be destroyed in the dishwaser, however they are dishwasher safe. we always buy our cooking items from macys.

We registered for the same set (Calphalon tri-ply). Originally was going to go for All-Clad because they are the top of the line stainless, but I went to BBB to see them in person first and the handles hurt my hands. I came home confused and googled that problem and read that a lot of other people had the same issue. I don't know why they would be uncomfortable if they are such nice pans, but who knows?

The Calphalon ones are also great pots/pans and are a close second. The set met my needs a little better (I like having glass lids, the set came with a pasta-strainer insert which is amazing, and it was cheaper!). Plus, BBB always has specials on Calphalon. We got all of our pots/pans as gifts except for the 13 piece set, which we bought ourselves last weekend. They had a promotion going where you got a $50 BBB gift card with a $300 calphalon purchase, and a free gift set with a $400 purchase. We bought lids for 2 of our non-stick skillets, which put us over the $400 mark. The 'free gift' was a $125 value (a large non-stick everyday pan with a cover, a wooden spoon, cookbook and dish towel) and we've already used it. Plus, you can use your 20% off coupons

All Clad is never on sale... and never has promotions.. and is much more expensive. I was going to get them anyway but with the handles I decided to go with the Calphalon and I'm so happy :)

Looooooooooooove our new pots and pans. If you're curious which we registered for FM me and I'll show you our registry

MAKE SURE YOU GO BACK TO THE STORE AND ACTUALLY SEE THEM IN PERSON, PICK THEM UP, FEEL THE HANDLES AND PICTURE YOURSELF USING THEM!

i find they are really easy to clean. i wait for the pan to cool off since your not suppose to clean them when they are hot. then i turn the water on super hot & let the water do all the work. then i just give them a quick sponge over. i will use a little seventh generation natural soap if necessary. then i put in onto the stove & turn the flame on high for a couple of seconds & its done.

Re: pots

I registered for the 14pc Stainless Steel All Clad set at Fortunoff. It's the best quality and we won't ever have to replace it. The sales people were great and went through all the different sets with us - very patient!!! And over the years we can add to it (roaster, woks, griddles...)
