Potted Plants for Centerpieces?

Potted Plants for Centerpieces?

I am getting married in fall of 2008 and just had an idea of using potted plants as the centerpieces to save $$$. Is anyone else doing this or has anyone seen it? How did it look? Any opinions on what type of plant?

Thanks!

I inquired on orchids in a pot and they turned out to be just as $$ as floral arrangments so we didn't use them.

went to a wedding where they had potted orchids and it was beautiful. the bride spent about $20 per plant and had 12 tables total. it was really lovely.

I was thinking about this as well.
I don't know about price differences but for me i didn't want to spend that money on flowers for one day.
By getting potted plants they can stick around for a while.
I have a friend who did daisies in little yellow pots for a baby shower and they were gorgeous.

I like the idea of orchids, but all the ones I've seen are just one flower -- and I want something a little fuller and more lush than one bloom. I think I will look around this fall and see what the farmstands, greenhouses have to see what would be available. And $20 a table is exactly what I wanted to spend!

It sounds like a great idea. You can check out your local nursery or a nursery near your RH and depending upon the number of plants you need they may even be able to give you a discount.

I understand what you mean re the plants and the orchids.....in the fall you have mums. They come in many colors and are much fuller than the orchid.

Don't know if it will work for you....Good Luck

In the fall- you can use mums. Very cheap and maybe you can get some nice pots for them.
