i went to a wedding Friday night and instead of a unity candle they did the pouring of the sand. There were 3 glasses, 2 were full of different color sand. The middle one was engraved with the B&G names and date of the wedding. The officant said they were joining the sand to create something that could never be divided. Noone could ever divide the grains of sand to seperate them, they played a song and the b&g both poured the sand into the glass...It was really nice and something different. Has anyone seen this?? What do you think of it?

Re: Pouring of the sand
I've never seen of it, but when I heard of it, I knew it was what I wanted! I heard that the amount of time it takes to separate the sand is how long you'll stay married.

Re: Pouring of the sand
I LOVE the idea of this - I actually ordered our sand ceremony frame about a week ago and it is due in tomorrow. I like the idea of a unity candle but we have the opportunity to possibly have an outdoor ceremony and if that flame went out.. i would probably freak out. We opted for the sand ceremony - plus it is gorgeous when it is together

They are a little ways down the thread - you can customize it a little bit

Re: Pouring of the sand
I've heard of this, I think it's on the same kind of level as a unity candle or the Jewish tradition of breaking the glass......I think the idea is great, I haven't seen it yet, but I'd love to see pics of it
