I love how ConEd keeps saying they've fixed all their problems and yet we have a quarter of the city without power right now!

yeah, i just heard about the upper east side. Please don't let the LIRR be affected!!!!
Can't go through another blackout!

I told my job Im leaving 10 minutes early just incase I have problems with the subway!
I think (?) the LIRR should be fine?

More than 78,000 customers without power in Manhattan. The outage is
affecting E side line of MTA.
Incident: Infrastructure
Incident Type: Power Outage
Severity: Severe
When this Happened: 06/27/2007 03:56:00 PM EDT (06/27/2007 12:56:00 PM PDT)

Description:
Officials continue to respond to a large power outage affecting E 79th St
to E 107th St and from FDR to Madison Ave. Officials with the NYC Office
of Emergency Management report that the Hellsgate section of town is
without power above 83rd St. Con Edison reports that 78,000 customers are
without power in the Yorkville section of Manhattan. Metropolitan Hospital
and Mount Sinai hospital are running on generator power. CNN reports that
the E side line is experiencing travel disruptions. Reportedly the tracks
have power, but the signals are out. The V and D lines are also
experiencing the same problems. The cause of the outage remains unknown at
this time.

That does suck! I hope you guys don't have any issues getting home.

I was in NYC yesterday for a conference - I would have been quite peeved if Metro North had gone down yesterday, although then my company would have had to pay for me to stay at the Waldorf for a second night ....maybe it wouldn't have been so bad after all

I don't get it. I live on 77th on the east side, and I've had power all day.... (keeping my fingers crossed)

Phewph! I mean, I feel horrible for the people without power, but I like my ac! Hope their power is restored soon...!
