Hmmmmm

I will pray for u but PLEASE BECAREFUl...

let me tell u My and my FH story regarding Proactive...

We used it... and OMG, the first two MONTHS they were GREAT!!! Our faces was completely CLEAN... No pimples... no acne... nothing... ...
Then we started getting little... byt little again. and I used the product that it is suppose to work 'overnight' and... still.. more pimple would come up... and more and more...

Our faces got so ****** up from Proactive! we went to a dermatologist and she told us that it was x product that proactive was that made us react that way....
After we got started getting facials... and we are getting better now....

But my face was HORRIBLE with proactive.... HORRIBLE...

PERSONALLY I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND PROACTIVE....

I've actually heard that. I've also heard that you can get addicted to it that your skin will actually depend on it and if you stop using it you're screwed. so I will be careful. if it doesn't help me in 1 month i will stop using it

I had terrible acne in high school and Proactiv didn't work. It didn't hurt either, it just didn't do anything. I went to a dermatologist and they cleared it right up. My derm was great, I highly recommend him to everyone! My acne was really bad and I don't have any scars or pimples anymore! His name is Dr. Brody and he's located in Manhasset

FH has had skin problems since forever. He swears by the Acne.org stuff. Nothing else works!

I'll try to find out more info.

I would highly recommend going to a dermatologist. I had a bad breakout (the first one of my life) and I tried to treat it with over the counter products and it made it worse! When I finally went to the doctor I had to deal with the acne and the skin irritation caused by the OTC acne meds.

If you don't mind me asking, what did the dermatologist do that was so different from OTC meds?? you can FM me if you want i'd appreciate it

I also don't recommend Proactiv. I had deep cystic acne on my face and back and my dermatologist put me on a few different prescriptions that really helped to clear my skin. One was oral (an androgen binding med), and two were topical (a face wash and Retin-A).

My derm is in Manhattan. FM me if you'd like his name.

The dermatologist will likely prescribe antibiotics either in the form of pills or as a component of a cream. Additionally a doctor will prescribe medications and will monitor your bodies response to the medication. Different types of acne respond best to different treatments. Often a combination of treatments will be used...In my case I had a face wash (Rosaderm) that contains sulfur, a cream for the morning Ducac and a second cream for the evening (I had a few different ones one was too irritating a second one did not really work) in addition I was prescribed doxycycline. It turns out the OTC medication I was using contains salicylic acid which irritated my skin rather then treating the acne effectively.

I never had any pimples as a teenager, as an however, holy lord!!!! I've tried the otc things that did not work out. I swear by Murad, works wonders for me.

But, you should defiantly see a dermatologist.

I had acne and the Clinique 1,2,3 system really works for me.
