My fh's grandfather passed away early Friday morning. He only went into the hospital one week ago but took a drastic turn for the worse overnight Monday and ended up on a respirator. By Thursday we found out he had very aggressive cancer spreading through all his lymph nodes and he had a very high fever. All his children decided that he wouldn't want all this efforts done with such a poor prognosis so they decided that if his heart stopped that would be it - no CPR or anything. (It was a tough situation for me b/c I work in the medical field and they were asking me my opinion)
A bunch of us were there on Thursday and all of my FH's family was telling him that he had to pull through and get better for the wedding (which is in 2 weeks) but he never responded and was very out of it. Everyone left and FH and I stayed....He opened his eyes and looked at us, he stared at my FH and started to cry..FH told him that if he was tired and couldn't fight anymore that it was OK, he know he'd be at the wedding either way. He passed away a few hours later. I definately believe that he was waiting to see FH 1 more time.
Just wanted some prayers for FH the next 2 weeks, it is going to be hard. Thanks!! :

Wow, that jst had me in tears. I am so sorry for you FH and his family's loss, as well as yours. But like your FH said, he will e there with you no matter what.

What a touching story. I believe things like that happen a lot. My friend's father passed away shortly after moving into a safer neighborhood and she believe her father held on as the protector until the move was done.

What a touching goodbye between the two, You're in my thoughts. I lost my Grandmother a month ago next week - its difficult. It was a case where she got ill and it was semi-serious, then it looked like she was getting better and then she just took a big sigh and was gone. I am so thankful it was so peaceful. Now its a big reunion with all those that passed before her, that keeps me going.

I know exactly what your FH is going through. Two weeks before my wedding (this exact time last year) we lost my grandmother... It was hard for me , my mom and my aunt... Just be there for FH and everything will work out....
And yes his grandfather will definately be there. We were supposed to have a noreaster (SP) on our wedding day with horrible rain and wind. Our day was beautiful and I am sure my grandmother made sure of it..... Please tell FH I am very sorry for his loss....

Thank you all!! I am on my way to South Jersey for the next 3 days and I know it will be tough but it's for the better-he was in terrible shape the last few days and now his is with his bride (thats what he always called FH's grandma even after she passed)
