Are there any prayers I need to brush up on before I head to precana?
Update: I lucked out. There was a prayer said by the couple in charge to start the evening and one said by the priest at the end but all that was required of me was an amen or two. So amen to that!

I'm not sure, but I don't think you really need to 'know' prayers for pre-cana. But then again, I've never been (yet)!
We met with our priest the other day to sign some papers and he basically told us that at pre-cana they touch on issues such as communication in the marriage, children, your goals as a married couple etc. etc.
I am 'assuming' it's more about the socialness of the marriage (if that makes sense) then actually praying. But I do know that after our one day pre-cana we have to attend 5pm mass.

We are doing the in precana at someone's home so I am worried they will start and end with a prayer that I will look like an idiot for not remembering the words!

Don't ever feel that way!! IF I had to suggest knowing a prayer(s), it might be the 'Our Father', 'Hail Mary', 'Glory Be to the Father...'

We just finished pre cana and it was at someone's house. The lead couples opened with a prayer, but it was just off the top of their heads, not a specific prayer.
Don't worry, it's mostly about your relationship! Good luck!
Okay, good. Thanks!

Re: Prayers for precana?
I dont think it about prayers. Or least I hope it isnt. I start in April also at someones house. I heard it is more about communication and having children and raising them catholic. Geez, I dont remember the prayer either. Keep me posted.

Re: Prayers for precana?
My fiance and I just completed pre-cana, there were no prayers that we had to say there, trust me my fiance would not have known any if asked. It was actually pretty interesting. It is a little dry at points but I thought it was pretty informative overall.

You don't need to bring anything or prepare anything for pre cana! Just expect to hear your organizers talk about marriage topics and then you and FH converse over different scenerios on how you each would address them. The basic idea is communication with one another and that you are prepared for the Church's expectations of your marriage - which basically means children!

I don't know why it takes 8 hours for that. But I guess I will be finding out!

They do a different topic once an hour. We did ours for 6 hours over 3 diff. sunday's. Each night we covered two topics from communication, raising children, sexuality, finances, family backgrounds, etc.

Re: Prayers for precana?
We said a Hail Mary at the beginning because we did it at the Marion Shrine. We had a full mass at the end but, other than that, it was more about your life together as a married couple, getting along, how to incorporate God and religion, etc.
