So my job is making cutbacks and practically rearranging everything. Its a national company and they're closing our offices in FL, WA AND AZ. Their transfering calls from our office to the other AZ office and cutting our hours. I'm part-time so I was only working 29 hours, now I've been cut down to 25.
Last week they announced they were looking to let people go. Today, corporate called my boss and she had my supervisor tell me and 2 other ladies that we are the candidates right now for getting let go because we are partime and work the most hrs out of other part timers. Next week the president is coming from AZ and he is going to decide who to let go. They want 2-3 people gone. What they dont understand is the amount of work that we do and they think letting people go is going to be easy on the company. They have no idea how this office is run. We only have 9 employees. What annoys me is that they're going to keep this slacker kid who only works 20 hrs a week doing NOTHING because he works the less hours.
This is the LAST thing we need right now. I was so naive to think that this recession wasnt going to affect me. I start my last yr of school in August and my internship I was looking to stay here only because of the flexible hrs. Now my only option is to collect unemployment.
So my question to those that collected unemployment....how much did you recieve compared to what you were making at your job? Does marital status affect what you get? Im just afraid that because I'm married and he makes more than what I do, they'll give me very little or nothing at all.
Anyway, please pray I dont have to even worry about this.

Re: Prayers Needed & Unemployment ?
If you work less than four days and earn $405 or less in a week, you may receive partial benefits. Each day or partial day of work will reduce your benefit rate by one-quarter. If you are unable to work, your benefits are determined on the same basis. Receiving partial benefits extends the length of time you may collect benefits until you reach the maximum or your benefit year ends, whichever comes first. If you earn over $405 in any week, regardless of the number of days worked, no benefits can be paid for that week.
Each day or part of a day of work will result in a payment of a partial benefit as follows:
1 day of work = 3/4 of your full rate
2 days of work = 1/2 of your full rate
3 days of work = 1/4 of your full rate
4 days of work = No benefits due
If you work while receiving benefits and do not report that employment, even if it is part-time work, you may be committing fraud. You must report all full-time and part-time employment to the Labor Department or you risk criminal penalties.

I am VERY confused by this as well! I work 5 days a week and make more than $405 a week. Does that mean that IF i got fired and tried to collect, I wouldn't get anything??? Doesn't make sense. The above seems to sat that the more you worked before you filed for benefits, the less you get -- and I would think it would be the other way around ...

09'er crashing, the above means that if you are currently part time, you CAN STiILL collect, if you work 3 days and file for unemployement, you get the 3 day pay out, if you become TOTALLY Unemployed, the above has nothing to do with that. If you become totally unemployed the most you can collect is $405 a week.
If you get a part time job while on unemployement than you follow the above chart.

Re: Prayers Needed & Unemployment ?
If you go online and fill out the unemployment form don't they estimate the amount that you are entitled to?
