Re: Prayers Please!!
There are quite a few different things that can cause blockages. It can be scar tissue from previous surgery, infection, endometriosis, or cysts. I think in my case I had a cyst that burst in one tube which they had to remove, and from what I understand, they were able to clear the other. I'm going back to the dr today to get all the details.

Re: Prayers Please!!
Lisa, all the best, please keep us informed. Do take care. I had a cyst before on my ovary, I had it removed, so far the Dr has said that all is well. I hope when it is time to have children I will be ok.Thanks for explaining

Re: Prayers Please!!
Shamma, I'm sure it will be fine!
I just got back from the Drs with all the gory details.... Its not as good as I thought it was
My left tube was totally shot...so swollen from infection it barely looked like a tube (I saw pics, very strange!), so it was removed. My right tube was swollen shut at the end and was repaired...for now. He thinks it will only stay open for 4-6 months. He wants me to do IVF. He said its our best shot. There is still a chance that I can get pg naturally, but there is a higher risk for an etopic b/c of my damaged tube and he wants to avoid that if possible. Not what I had hoped for, but at least its do-able. My mom has been saying for years that she pictures me with twins and from what I've read the chances with IVF are 24%

Does anyone know anything about IVF or someone that went through it?

Re: Prayers Please!!
Lisa, IVF is not as frightening as you may think, so please don't worry! A friend of mine at work had IVF twins in November, and one of my best childhood friends is having an IVF baby in April. Both had failed attempts before this pregnancy, but are doing great now. The one who just had twins actually carried to her due date and had 2 beautiful, very healthy girls.
They both said they'd do it again in a heart beat, and the one due in April is already planning a second IVF for around her baby's first birthday.I go to the same RE they went to, and he is wonderful and very well thought of on Long Island, with fantastic successes with IVF and IUI. If you'd like his name, let me know, I'd be happy to help. Good luck, and remember, we are all here for you!

Re: Prayers Please!!
My GF went thru IVF, there are many support groups on the web, I will get the info from her for you. Her baby is almost due now. She is another internet friend of mine. I am sorry to hear the news was not good but at least there is still hope, all is not lost. Think positively all will be well. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I will be back with the IVF board info.

Re: Prayers Please!!
My Mom's cousin had an IVF baby - who is a very healthy little boy - and she was over 40 when she had him! Also, a very good friend of mine from California had a beautiful baby girl through IVF - and she was born about 3 days before my son.
There are so many IVF success stories....I am hopeful for you that you can become one of them. I am sorry you have had to go through this
. Hang in there, and think positive!

Re: Prayers Please!!
Thanks for all the info ladies!Shamma, that is a great site!! I'm learning a lot!
I just found out my current insurance doesn't cover IVF
, only IUI which is not as good for me since it does involve passing through the tube, which is my problem. My DH will be changing jobs soon and that insurance currently covers one IVF try, but we are going to see if there is any kind of upgrade (if thats possible). Keep your fingers crossed!

Re: Prayers Please!!
I really do hope something works out for you, yes IVF can be very costly, the 2 people I know that did it had to come out of pocket for it. That's why it can be disapppointing when the implant does not take on the first try. I do not know what your circumstances are, but many factors bear on success. I wish you all the best and know that I am praying for you.
