Pre-Cana

I have heard that the one-day sessions are the best. Not every parish offers one-day sessions, you may have to look around.

Our's was similar - 3 hours on a Saturday evening and 8:00 - 4:00 the next day. It was a mix of oral presentations and a couple of group discussions but most of it consisted of the couple separating following the oral presentation and doing a worksheet / Q&A answer sheet then meeting to discuss it together.

The 2 couples giving the presentations were not very good speakers so that part got tedious. The Priest was the most interesting.

You dont need to do it in your own parish. Your church can supply a booklet that gives you many many types and choices.

Thanks!

I think they are all somewhat different. We did an all day Saturday precana which was about 7 hours. It wasn't a boring, 'sitting in the same spot all day' lecture. There was a lot of writing that we did separately and then came together to review what we wrote on the same topics. The couple that led it also had a lot of good & realistic stuff to say regarding marriage. Couples got to ask questions and I found many other people had the same questions we did. We really enjoyed it. It ally reinforced for us that we were on the same page on the main marriage topics and where we see our relationship going. We went for ice cream afterwards. It was such a nice day for us.

Could someone tell me what to expect of pre-cana and what it is exactly? I'm really looking forward to it, but I'm not sure what I'm looking forward to! How long is it? Thanks!

Lauren-
When we were having lunch at precana, we ended up talking to another couple about our photographer. They had been seriously considering him and when we spoke highly based on our other family members' experiences in the past with our photographer, they were sold..they said they were going to stop by the studio right after precana ended. It was nice to be able to help them out.

I am getting married on LI but now live in Boston and we are doing it up here. Ours will be 4 hrs on Sat night and a whole day on Sun. It sounds like it will be helpful and I am encouraged what all of you have said about it. thanks

Yay!! Congratulations!!!!! How exciting! I hope you have a beautiful day. I'm glad you have worked through the anger at them (although we all agree they were pretty discourteous) so you can enjoy the day. Best wishes
No flowers, favors, limos, shoes & all that other little stuff. It can be overwhelming sometimes(!) but just take a deep breath & it will all pull together. :)
