Pre-Cana

Did anyone do the pre-cana classes that are on saturday's from 9:30-4:30? We have pre-cana this saturday and next saturday and I am so nervous about what to expect. I can't imagine what they are going to have us do for all those hours. Luckily one of my best friends who is getting married 2 weeks before me will be coming to the same class.

Any help or insight would be great.

Thanks girls

We did it...

We got there, had breakfast, then we broke for lunch again, it went fast. Mini sessions in between breakfast and lunch.

Also, on Sunday - it was only a half day b/c then we went to mass.

It's painless. And definitely speak up!!!! Otherwise it will draaaaaaaaaaaag.

we have it this weekend both days, 9-4 (cant remember where, I should prob figure that out )

question, how do people dress for Pre-cana for these all day classes? Would be be nuts if I showed up in my comfy attire?

i did that and it wasnt bad surprisingly....you do get an hour lunch break and they provide the food. and we also had about 4 breaks but you do alot of fun quiz games to see how well you two know eachother...you just each answer and exchange answers and look at them on your own...the host couple talks about alot of interesting points about marriage.

A lot of it is talking with each other about different topics, and hearing from the leading couples about their experiences....it's actually kinda fun! (we did a Friday-Saturday one and the meals were awesome! and they gave us snacks too!)

Re: Pre-Cana

We did pre-cana last saturday; our homework was that we had to go out on a date Friday night and not talk about the wedding, lol, so we had to report on how easy that way! The rest of the day we sat there and the deacon talked to us about communication, and fair-fighting, and how our own upbringings can influence our marriages. There was very little religious talk. He had two couples that have been married like 35 years talk to us also. In between we had table discussions w/the other couples at our table (be sure to sit w/your friend!) about different topics he gave us. It went by sooo fast. The worst part was at the end they had some guy come to talk to us about 'natural family planning' and the whole room was just trying not to laugh at the poor guy. Oh! and we did the love letters that everyone does which was great!
Good luck and don't be nervous!

We dressed as if we were going to mass...

Some couples showed up in comfy attire and they just looked disrespectful.

We wore jeans... we dressed up a little more for the mass the next day... nothing crazy, business casual.

It's group discussions in small groups, then you have a few minutes to reflect on what was just discussed and then you get together with the rest of the groups to talk abou it more.... it's really nothing to worry about.

Try and enjoy!

Everyone was in jeans; no sweats b/c we had to go to mass right after, but lots of sneakers!
