me and fh actually liked it a lot. we did 3 thursday nights. We had a solial worker guy come and he mostly spoke about communcation and the skills needed to have a good relationship. It isnt like what our parents went thru... We didnt have to talk out loud or discuss private issues... we actually learned a lot and found it very helpful. I am so glad we did it.

Re: Pre Cana
We just finished pre -cana last Sunday- We had so much fun!! FH was so against it and he ended up loving it!! The other couples were all nice and we got along great.
They will ask you questions to prepare you for married life. They basically what to make sure you have discussed kids, finances, spirituality etc, before you tie the knot. Our host couple said in past years couples have decided to postpone their wedding to talk things through a little further, They were thankful of this experiance.
We are going all day Saturday. That sounds helpful.

Re: Pre Cana
Speaking of Pre-Cana.. are you supposed to do it a certain time period b4 your wedding (ex: like 4 months, etc.) or does it just need to be done b4 you get married?

Re: Pre Cana
where are you doing it?
we did nyc pre-cana. first night was a major let down, but we loved the next 3 sessions. Ours was relatively informal because they have about 60 couples per session.

Re: Pre Cana
We have pre cana all day too on Saturday in Smithtown. I'll be honest, I'm a bit nervous too. The husband of the couple called me yesterday and told me to have a notebook, something to lean on and that we'll be getting a workbook. We shall see what happens.
Good luck to you!

Re: Pre Cana
I went in very skeptical, but we BOTH really enjoyed the experience, we talked about ourselves and our relationship, it really gave us a chance to focus on US and not the WEDDING itself for a while, it's gonna be great!!!
Thanks for the info. I will give you and update Saturday night. We are going to Corpus Christi Church in Mineola. Anyone going?

Re: Pre Cana
We finish our pre cana next sunday with a closing mass. It was not bad at all. Everyone told us they enjoyed theirs, and it wasn't that bad. They were right. We had to do a foccus exam, not graded. It is a standardized comptability test. It was kind of pointless. It is only good because it gets you talking about stuff. The actualy pre cana was great. We met on Sunday Nights in a lovely couples home. They were great.
Good luck. Don't be scared.
