I got a letter about pre-cana yesterday. I must say I was pretty surprised by it. The first session is Jan 4 from 2-6. Then it is every Sunday night after that until March 8! (Don't know the times yet, we will find out at the first meeting) I have only really heard of weekend sessions before, or two all-day meetings.
Does anyone else have pre-cana like this?

Re: Pre-cana
I haven't gotten anything from Pre-cana yet, but my priest said something about it being 4 meetings once a week for 4 weeks.

2 - 7 pm Nov 23rd.
We are doing it at a different parish (we live in CT), but that seems much more than the norm...

Re: Pre-cana
That seems kind of long, ours was Sept 28th, 6-8, then Sunday nights Until this past Saturday, leaving out columbus weekend, from 7-9, unless your sessions are only one hour at a atime.....

Re: Pre-cana
Do you have to do that one (does your church require it?) Our church said we could do one anywhere in NYC or Long Island so we choose a two day one.

Re: Pre-cana
NO. Did you sign up for that type of class? I know that they have various sessions (like 2 days, or 3 consecutive Wed nights) But I never heard one for that long. We signed up for a Friday night from 7:30 - 9pm and then the Saturday from 9am -5pm (or something like that).
Here is the website in case you are interested. From what I get of it, you can choose which dates and what type of pre-cana class you want to sign up for.
We are doing the pre-cana that our church offers (St. Mary's in East Islip). We could have opted to do the one the diocese offers but we didn't know where it would be held and we thought it would be easier to do it in the area. I am guessing that each session won't be too long. All I know is that we have to go to 5 o'clock mass and then meet afterwards.

Re: Pre-cana
Ours is all in one weekend, but I think thats a relatively new way of doing it. I was fully expecting weeks of class like that.

Yes we're going to Douglaston to do it, I just have to sign up, I think FH wants to do it in February. That's good that they let you out a little early
