Pre Cana

Hi Girls,

So pre cana question... When we met with our priest he mentioned something about 'maybe' having to do FOCCUS as well as pre cana but as we are not doing pre cana through our parish, he didn't get into it. When we call other parishes about pre cana, will they tell us about FOCCUS as well? Is FOCCUS also mandatory?

Also, does anyone happen to know of a one day or weekend pre cana on LI? We definitely won't be able to do the weeknights.

Actually I think it depends on the church. It wasn't even mentioned to us at all and we've already received our pre-cana certificate.

We have to do precana and have never even heard of this FOCCUS thing, so I don't think it's mandated by every church

If your church requires you to do FOCCUS before they marry you, then you need to do it. The place where we did pre-cana did not offer FOCCUS so we took the FOCCUS test online through the diocese of Rockville Centre. They sent the results to our deacon and then we just set up a meeting with him to go over it. - hth.

And to answer your other question about weekend pre cana. If u go to the diocese of rockville centre website, they have a listing of all the parishes that do it in 3 days - Friday night, All day Sat and Sun. And I believe you can do the FOCCUS as well that weekend. However, the cost is much higher then doing it through your parish. I believe its around $300.

Thanks! Our parish only does Thursday evening for 5 weeks, and with our jobs we can't do that. Will definitely use that website!
