When I met with the Priest a while back he gave me a listing of the dates for Pre-Cana both in parish and for the Diocese program. Then I had to call and register on my own.
Edited to add you can take it whenever you both want to and have time. We were scheduled to do it in December, but then it was cancelled due to the snow storm so now we are taking it in March.

My preist gave us a form the 1st (& only) time we met with him.
It said to send it back a month before the session we want to attend, but it didn't say how soon the session needed to be. At that Church, June is the last one before our wedding in October, so I don't think it matters.
However, I think at the end of the Pre-cana you get a lists of readings to pic, so it should probably be a couple months before hand.
We are going in March or April.

my priest said they will call us by the spring, but if we don't hear from them to call. I think I will stop in soon so we can pick when we go, and not be forced to take off work, or when we have something planned.

I'm worried about this part of the planning. MY FIL's signed up for the church b/c it's in their town and I feel like I have no control of this. I wanted to get the Pre-cana done soon but I finally called the church and they told me there will POSSIBLY be a class in April! POSSIBLY? I'm getting married in May! I don't know what to do. Our priest is from a different Parrish so I think I have to call him and ask him if we can do the Pre-cana near him instead and hope he says yes!

We're getting married in Queens, so I had to contact the Brooklyn diocese and sign up for Pre-cana ourselves. Very simple just pick the one you want and send the form and check.

My Priest gave me a booklet with all the dates. I had to fill out the form, write a check and mail it in. They ask for 2 dates (1st choice, 2nd choice). In the booklet it said I will be receiving a confirmation in the mail in about 2 weeks letting me know which class we will be in. ![]()

When we met with my pastor in the summer, he gave us a booklet with all the listing of the dates of pre-cana and all the options of doing it. We filled it out and did ours in Dec of last year (sounds weird saying last year ![]()
).

i dont think the call to sign you up... there are a few times durring the year they offer it, your suppose to sign up for the convenient one..

SReidy--our preist didn't mention it, but I think its fine to go through another church or the Diocese directly.
They give you a certificate & that's all your church needs. That's how OOT brides do it.

I had to goto my church and put my phone # on a waiting list. Then they called me with the date!

When I booked the ceremony I gave them all of my information. They contacted me in September. We finished PreCana in November. I didn't have to call them at all. They took care of everything. But I would make sure, some churches are different in their procedures

We we met with the priest he gave us a registration form for the parish pre cana and a booklet listing all of the discese dates. We had to make the arrangements ourselves. We start in February. You should proabaly call the rectory and inquire.
