Pre-Cana Question

FH & I start precana tomorrow and I'm kind of nervous because I have no clue what to expect. I don't know what I'm walking into. I've asked some women at work and it seems as if no one attended pre-cana. Can anyone help me out?

Re: Pre-Cana Question

For the most part its not that big of a deal. For ours were each handed a work book and someone from the church talked about different topics. After each topic, we had to answer a section in our work book and then compare them with our fiance. The idea is to make sure that we were both on the same page with each other before you get married about topics suchs as kids, money, etc.

Re: Pre-Cana Question

FH and I did it in one whole weekend. Do you have to do it on week nights for a few weeks?

What we had to do is listen to stories about the couple who hosted precana. We did activities and answered questions out of the workbook they gave us. We also had one on one time to actually sit and talk to eachother about the questions and why we answered them that way. It wasn't bad at all. So don't be nervous! Think of it as a chance to get to know eachother a little bit better.
Good Luck!

Re: Pre-Cana Question

Our Parish's pre-cana was in a married couple's home and very informal. We, too, were very wary about it, but by the first 10 minutes for the first session, we were talking away. There were four other couples and the atmosphere was very informal - everyone got in on sharing their views, and I feel that it was very helpful in our preparation for marriage. I actually enjoyed it.

FH and I did it the weekend of Nov 17th from Friday night (2 hrs) and then all day Saturday (9-2pm) and we actually had fun. It was interesting and was very informal for the most part. We actually made the best of it being it took up most of our weekend. They talked about financial situations, children, marriage life, etc.

Re: Pre-Cana Question

Thank you ladies. We start tomorrow night and it's only for 3 weeks so I know it won't be too bad. I was just curious as to what I was walking into. Thanks again for your help, at least now I have a better picture of what will be occuring.
