pre cana question...

pre cana question...

i have mine comin up this month and i never did that foccus test thing? noone ever said i had to and im all registered and today i called my priest and he had no idea what the foccus test was

did everyone do this or is it not required?

I am currently doing pre-cana and we never did the FOCCUS test either. I met with the priest and he asked he questions seperately, then pre-cana - that's it! But, I am getting married at a Brooklyn church - dont knowif that makes a difference.

Brooklyn Diocese does not do FOCUS.

I think it depnds on the church - both my church and FH's church (where we're doing our precana) didn't require it.

Good thing too bc then I'd be cutting it close!

only a requirement if getting married in Diocese of Rockville Ctr Church.

FH and I are getting married out in Babylon by RH so we took it and did well...

If you are getting married in Brooklyn, No worries, not required.

I start pre cana on 3/29...they never mentioned Focus....should I call and ask them? Or do you think they will go over it at our first meeting?

I am getting married in a Diocese of Rockville Centre church.

We did precana through the diocese of Brooklyn and we did not have to take it- Stop worrying

We didn't have to do that focus test either so i guess it's a Brooklyn/Queens diocese thing.

it is required. they reviewed results at the pre cana session we went to

you need a foccus certificate also in addition to the precana certificate for the church. this is what our church requires

Yea, our pre-cana couple said that they don't do the FOCUS test b/c studies have found that it's not accurate. If you just got into a fight with your fiance that day, your answers are going to be different than if you were getting along that day.
Thank GOD we didn't have to take that thing!

I'm getting married at St. Mary's in Manhasset which is part of Diocese of Rockville center and they didn't require foccus. Just pre cana. I think you need to ask your church.
