FH is NYPD and his schedule rotates. The woman at the church said 'well we meet fridays and sundays and you have to pick one, you cant come friday one week and sunday the next and you have to show up every week'. How on earth are we supposed to do this?! If we cant, can they tell us we cant get married there? Sorry... bridezilla moment

dont think this will apply for you but for those of us in queens and bklyn that get married, theres a website and we can pick any pre-cana program we want at any of the churches they have on the list. They have a list of 2 day pre-cana, the 6 week or the retreat, shows the schedule for each one and we pick one that we want and sign up for it. although i got married in astoria, i went to pre-cana in douglaston which is where most queens brides go. I dont know how it works in LI so not sure if you have the option of doing anything like this.
I do know you need to complete pre-cana to get married. But talk to your church again and tell them your problem, hopefully they can figure out something you can do. Maybe if one weekend you cant go, you can go to another one to make up for it when you are available.

On the Rockville Center Diocese website there are a bunch of choices as well.

I would hope they'd be accommodating. We are starting ours this Friday. They wanted the last one to be on Halloween!!! They said we can discuss at the first session, but i'm going to be really upset if they make us come that night.

See if your church offers a weekend session. Get it over with in 2 days. Maybe your FH can make arrangements to be off that weekend.

I understand we just found out the only day our church is doing precana is the day after FH's brothers wedding which FH is the best man at. Were gonna walk in to precana either drunk or hung over lolllllllll j/k

I was able to do it all in one day. Check with the diocese, not just your church for sure. It is an honorable job that your FH has, it should be respected. I feel like lots of times those little church ladies can be ruthless!

I can relate...my FH is FDNY and we had to go every Fri for 4 weeks. Luckily, he had a mutual partner that was understanding and he was able to be there for all sessions. If it would have been a problem, our Deacon was very understanding! They actually had a couple that only saw eachother 1x per week due to one living out of state or something and they were doing something with them...some sort of one day speedy precana. You can def go to another church that's more understanding....if you want info to my church/deacon FM me.

I can relate. My FH is a corrections officer with a rotating schedule. My church told me to call the Diocese of Rockville Center. You can do a weekend program, but it is way more expensive..so not fair
