Pre Cana Questions

Hey girls,

Fh and I are going to pre cana this weekend. It is Saturday and Sunday from 9-4. For those of you who have done the long weekend sessions, what is the deal for lunch? Do we get a break? Are we suppose to bring it from home? TIA!

Where are you doing it? Is it through your church? Mine called me last week and its every Sunday night in February from 7-9, but I would much rather do it all in 1 weekend like you

We did the long weekend. It was fine. Nothing to stress over.
They gave out lunch, I think boxed sandwiches the first day, chips/apple, etc. which you choose in the morning, a little tick off box thing, and then the following day I think it was a hot lunch, italain food pasta/chicken I think, soda. That kind of thing.

I think they let us out early too from what I remember!

When I went to my church and met with the priest, he gave me a long list of all the dates offered through the Diocese of Rockville Centre. None of the offerings were at my church so we are going to St. John the Bpatist in West Islip. If you are interested, look at the Diocese of Rockville Centre website- there is a list of dates on there and many are 2 day ones!

this may be a silly question but is pre cana called 'focus' on the dvrc website? i seem to recall our priest mentioning a full weekend retreat session but i dont think we had to do that.

FOCCUS is basically a way to get the couples to discuss issues that couples might shy away from, or may not have thought to discuss. Basically if you do the 2 day weekend, ahead of time you each fill out a questionnaire separately, (the same one) and you don't discuss each others answers.

When you get to the class they'll give you both the answers you've provided, tell you if they're compatible with each other, and also compare it to what their 'suggested' answer is, although there is no right or wrong.

Then you spend time during the day talking with each other (JUST YOUR PARTNER NOT THE CLASS) and going over your answers/responses and this gets you to open dialogue between each other.

There are two different weekend programs. One is 2 days 9-4 each day. The other is the weekend retreat which you have to sleep over at.

They haven't told us anything! I got a confirmation email that says we signed up and the time to get there, but no mention of lunch.

I went to the two day one in West Islip at the high school through the diocese of rockville center. Lunch is provided. You'll be getting more info on taking Foccus online before the class. It's an expensive course so they should provide lunch.
