UPDATE So we are officially done with pre cana! It was actually great and with your advise it was pretty much what you all said so I was well prepared! Thanks! But to go into a little detail for girls that have not done it yet, we were there with like 20 other couples the first night was a mass service and we did the love letter thing, and all day saturday was discussion. The couple introduced topics and then we worked in the workbooks independently and discussed it independently. It was really great because FH and I were able to talk about things we never really did before and it really took our relationship to a whole other level. I can't believe I was worried about it. So for all you future pre cana brides don't worry it really was a great experience the only thing is it was a long day!

Good luck!
I am sure you are going to enjoy the experience. FH and I did the encounter weekend. For us (and like what was already mentioned) we had 2 older couples share their stories based on the topics we were covering. Then we split apart from our fiances to answer questions in the book they provided. Then we met back with our fiances to share our answers privately. That's basically how the weekend went, with breakfast, lunch, dinner and a few breaks in between. On our second night there was a prayer service and candle ceremony that was quite touching. I got all emotional but then looked around and noticed I wasn't the only one.
It honestly was a great weekend. It's weird... when we were back home we kinda wished we were still there.
Random question.... Did they allow you to sleep w. FH ? or did you have to sleep separately?
FH and I are getting married in August so we wont be registering until Feburary. Although we can register now, but it must be done within ^ months before the wedding or else it will expire and you will have to do it all over again. I've heard great things about it so I am looking forward to it!
I never heard that it expires! actually the head of pre-cana said that we were the best situation in the room because pre-cana should not be done very close to the wedding date. reason being that pre-cana is actually a course on compatibility of a couple and to discuss your strengths and differences. The catholic church doesn't believe in divorce and with the divorce rate so high they actually tell you that if you are not 150% sure about marring the person next to you please don't get married and if you wait till the last minute (only a few months before the wedding) to take pre-cana most couples, they say, already feel they have no choice but to go through with it... We did pre-cana in january of this year and we're not getting married till may of next year and the certificate doesn't have an expiration date on it. BTW how did your first night go ...??

I haven't gone because my church told me to wait, and so did the Pre- Cana people. I think on the precana.org site it does state this as well. I will find it and post it.

Re: PRE CANA TOMORROW *UPDATE*
Thanks for the information. We are doing Pre Cana in Staten Island and it is 2 days. We are going on September 6th for part 1 and then September 27th for part 2. Surprisingly, I'm looking forward to it.

I thought it had to be done within 6 months also which is why I waited until the six month mark but I met a couple that was getting married in july 09 so I'm not sure but there is no expiration on the certificate
