pre-owned dresses / consignment shops

okay in light of my last post -- i am totally NOT opposed to getting a used dress.

does anyone know of shops that do pre-owned bridal gowns? consignment shops or otherwise?

It's in NYC. I know you can check pre-ownedweddingdresses.com, also, but you'd have to try on a sample in the store first if you don't feel comfortable buying it without trying it on first.

Also, the Filene's Running of the Brides is coming up in February. That's something to consider!

i haven't personally bought any from there but both sites have been featured in several magazines.

I have seen some nice ones on Craigs List...and you can try them on..most sellers are past brides and they get it...I am going to sell my first dress there right after my wedding.

I got my second dress on ebay and it was in perfect condition. It was a little bigger than she said but that's OK I had to alter anyways...but I knew the designer as I had a dress from her (evening).
