We recieved a check from someone who isnt coming to the wedidng. It was made out to Gerard and Cecelia H_____
I tried to deposit it in our joint account Sat and they told me I have to wait till I am married or call the person who sent us the check and ask them to reissue it in my maiden name. Has anyone else had this problem? What have you done?
ETA- it was Capital One Bank

I have received a few of those and had no trouble depositing them at Citibank, Id try again, you'll prob get a different teller who wont even notice.
Is Capital One your bank or FH's?

Its where all our joint accounts are- Also FH has his own sep checking there.

We deposited all of our checks into DH’s account through the ATM and had no problem (at Chase bank).

i cant remember, but i think my FH just signed it if we deposited before the wedding.

I would just try to match the hand writing and write in your name after his.
Gerard and Cecilia H_________ and Your last name.
I don't think the teller would notice or care because people fill out checks for weddings all sorts of crazy ways. Or have FH try to deposit it.
I deposit checks into my account that are made out to FH all of the time. (We have Chase) and as long as he signed them they don't care.

Celia I agree. Have FH deposit it into his account through the ATM. You both sign it with the names written on the check. It should be fine.
