Pre-Wedding Weight Loss

1)How much are you planning on losing before the Big day?
2) How do you plan on doing it?
3) How long are you giving yourself?
4) When did you/will you start?

We will be one year out on September 19th so I think that will be my official starting date. I LOVE junk food so I will have to try to stop that. I am pretty good with going to the gym but I will need to seriously ramp it up. I am going to try to go to the gym 5 days per week. I considered joining weight watchers but I'm not sure if the cost is worth it because I am only looking to lose about 10 pounds so we're not talking major weight loss but still those last few are the hardest to get off. I am interested in hearing what everyone else is doing.

Re: Pre-Wedding Weight Loss

I know people at my job that went on WW's and lost a lot of weight.

I've been on south beach before (just to lose 5-10 lbs for vacations) and so have a lot of people in my family. I hated SB, especially the first 2 weeks, but you are SURE to lose at least 5 lbs if you go on it. You are not allowed to have any sugar or carbs for 2 weeks so its easy to lose that weight.

Right now (mainly b/c I am going on a cruise in a week), I am just trying to eat healthy and drink a lot of water. I eat spinach salad (w/ either mozzarella and italian dressing or fruit w/ raspberry vinaigrette) about 4 times a week for lunch. I try to limit myself to pasta once a week and try to avoid heavy carbs. I work out (30 minutes) 4-5 times a week. Just from that alone, I have lost 8 lbs this summer...which is a lot for my size. This has been the most effective and easiest diet I've ever been on. I feel like it's a change in lifestyle diet that I can stick to forever.

Re: Pre-Wedding Weight Loss

I started my wedding weight loss in april, because i didn't want to do a quick fix type of thing, i wanted to do a permanent change. I've been doing WW and so far i have lost 35 pds, i have about another 5 to go and then i just have some areas to focus on toning at the gym.

Re: Pre-Wedding Weight Loss

When I met FH I was underweight by about 5 lbs. Since weve met, I gained 10 pounds. Everyone keeps telling me how much better I look. Apparently I looked gaunt and too thin. But I loved the way I looked. Now not so much. I'd like to loose 5 pounds. At the four month mark I began exercising again and eating healthier and now with less then 2 months away from the wedding I'm still at the same weight. The scales not budging. It's very frustrating!!

Kudos to the girls that are getting a head start on it. I thought 4 months would be enough time but, I guess not.

Re: Pre-Wedding Weight Loss

Hi everyone! My names Corinne and I am a newbie here! To lose weight I had to do a complete lifestlye change. I ate samller portions, cut out junk food, take out, ate more salads and veggies and exercised. I started out with 3 day a week workouts and then slowly increased them as I got stronger. It took me about 6 months and I lost over 30 pounds. HOWEVER...I have kept the same routine and slowly but surely 10 pounds have crept up on me and no matter what I do I cannot shed them.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to shed those last 10 pounds!

I started exactly one yr before, Thanksgiving 07. I began the gym 4x a week. taking free weight classes, kick boxing, and running and weights the other days. I have seen a considerable difference in my body. I have maybe lost 10 lbs, which isnt much, but I have toned up nicely, and lost inches. I am shocked when I try on pants from last yr, and they dont stay up. Just do lots of cardio, and you must incorporate weight training.
I ate lot better, too. But I still ate junk food. Also, I stopped drinking beer when I went out. I stick to kettle 1 and club soda..

Re: Pre-Wedding Weight Loss

I actually started on WW in March and I am almost a life time member (one more week!). I just got engaged in June so it was a good thing I started early. I have lost 27 pound so far, I weigh in tomorrow so hopefully it will be more :) Honestly, I think WW is the best bet to lose weight and actually keep it off. I have completely revamped the way I was eating and feel sooo much better. I am about 9 pounds away from my goal weight for the wedding but I may lose another 15 just to be safe. I am getting married in April so I am sure I have plenty of time. I think working out is also really helpful with losing weight, I either use dvds, our elliptical or when i am down in nc, I go to Jazzercise with my mom. Believe it or not, its an AMAZING workout! Well, I hope you find something that works :) Good luck with your weight loss!

Re: Pre-Wedding Weight Loss

Hi,
I'm getting married September 2009 also. I want to lose 40lbs. I've started already. I have a SERIOUS ice cream and chocolate addiction. I just decided to start slow. I have lost 8lbs in 3 weeks. Just by cutting back what I eat. This week I started to walk/ jog. I feel pretty good, slow and steady will be the key. Good Luck!!! You can do it..

Re: Pre-Wedding Weight Loss

Hey there!
I hope to lose 15 pounds before wedding day. Right now I am eating healthy, doing a lot of yoga and going to a boot camp once a week. By the fall (my wedding is in May) I will get a little more serious and then once the holidays are over it is ALL OUT DIET for me!

In addition to losing weight my other goal is to have very toned arms and back. I hate back fat and I seem to have a decent amount of it, and i don't like my arms to be too meaty either.

Re: Pre-Wedding Weight Loss

I planned on dropping about 35 lbs originally, Gave myself a year
and lost 27 lbs. Now I am gaining after the wedding and I can't afford to join WW again because I joined a gym. I am trying to do it on my own with out WW but it's hard.
