Pre-Cana is the marriage preparation program that couples marrying in the Catholic church must complete. The title comes from the Bible story in which Jesus attended a wedding in Cana where he performed one of his miracles. The program gives Catholics an opportunity to learn about their future spouse and learn about the sacrament of marriage. The couple usually meets with the priest or a couple from the church three or four times to discuss different topics such as children, money, religion, and other marriage related issues. The couple also takes a questionnaire that helps identify important topics which may not have been fully discussed. Since the Catholic church views marriage as a life-long commitment, Pre-Cana is also a chance for the priest to ensure you are not marrying under duress and that the couple is ready for such a commitment. Re: Precana
Precana is a class that is required by the Catholic Church before they'll marry you. Sometimes it can be a weekend other times it is one night a week over the course of a couple months. They talk about the institution of marriage and how it all fits in with the Catholic Church. (I haven't gone yet, so that's all the info that I have)

Ask your church, they should be able to direct you to one.

Re: Precana
You could call the dioscese (sp?) They might know. Also not every parish requires you to take a questionarre (FOCUS test). It is a parish by parish thing. Mine didn't believe in it.

Re: Precana
I loved pre-cana! It's a little boring at times, but overall it was a great experience. The best part was when you rate yourself and FH on certain attributes. I'll never forget when I realized that my FH always thought higher of me than I think of myself. Does that make sense???

Re: Precana
Precana was much more fun then we anticipated. Even FH enjoyed it and he hates talking.
