Hi all. I am so confused about precana and Foccus and everytime I talk to someone at my church they make it even more confusing. They said I was running out of time... but I have a YEAR until my wedding!. Anyhow, did anyone that got married sign up for the marriage prep through the rockville center diocese website or did you go through your local parish?

I did FOCCUS and am signed up for pre cana through my parish. We're doing pre cana in Jan and Feb.
My sister and her fiance are going through the diocese because of scheduling issues.
Maybe they mean that you're running out of time to sign up for the pre cana classes that will be finished in time for your wedding. My parish only runs pre cana twice a year.

I am just going through my local parish. We figured it would be easier that way. You may want to try to schedule it soon only b/c they don't hold them that often. FH called to find out when the next classes would be held and they told him January. HTH

Thank you!. My fiance is a corrections officer so with his schedule it is hard to do the class they offer. I just didn't know if I could sign up through the diocese website or if i had to do it through my parish and the woman I talked to wasn't too sure either. I will figure it out. Thanks for the help.

I am not doing the precana through my church and instead going to do one through a diocese that takes place on a friday night for 2 hours and saturday.. and then you are DONE!

I went through mhy parish our lady of peach church and met sundays nights 4 times and it was done!

I am doing this all through my church. We took FOUCCUS first and then were notified a couple of months later that we had to start pre-cana which is this Sunday! I'm scurred.

You can do any pre-cana. (RVC, Brooklyn, Arch Diocese, parish) I'm getting married on LI and we did pre-cana through the Arch Diocese! I signed up in Feb and we start today!

We registered through the Diocese of Brooklyn and went for a Friday night and all day Saturday as was done. We didn't have to do FOCUS at all.
We are getting married next Friday and went for the pre-cana class in mid-June.

I cant believe they charge $300 for this! They are already charging me alot to get married in the church. Geez!

$300!!! that is crazy. My church charged $60 for their pre cana but the one we are going with to get it done w/ over 2 days through a diocese was $199... that included breakfast and lunch on that saturday too!

I feel like I am getting ripped off with all the church stuff! My parish charges $225 for pre-cana. The one I found online was $300. Not to mention the insane amount I owe them to get married in the church, you would think the pre-cana would come free.... (or at least cheap).
