PreCana Question

PreCana Question

I’ve been waiting to get the info on precana from my church, but I started to get worried that I hadn’t heard anything yet so I called them. Since they’re a small parish, they’re “not sure” if they’re going to have precana before our wedding or not, so I guess I’ll have to take it somewhere else and not risk it.

Are there any rules about this? Does it matter what church I go to to do it or are they all the same? I suppose I could call the church’s office back but I think the woman working there hates me. Thanks!

Re: PreCana Question

You can do it at ANY church you want-so long as theres an open seat for you guys.

Is there an archdioscese in LI? I know for me I was told to call the diocese of Bklyn. HTH

I dont know whats going on with the churches lately. They've been giving some of the brides on here a hard time (me included!) very frustrating.

Ok great - I would hate to go through the whole thing and then find out it didn't count.

I know there's an archdiocese of Rockville Centre - but I wasn't sure if that included all of Long Island.

Thanks!

Re: PreCana Question

I'd call them up. Or Google them. I bet they have a website.

I actually found out that it was OUR (me and FH) responsiblity to go to Precana BEFORE meeting the priest.

My jaw almost hit the floor. I havent even gone yet i was waiting for the priest to tell us to sign up....

Google diocese of rockville centre, then go to their website. I think if you select marriage under sacarments it will take you to a different page. There you can sign up for pre-cana and foccus at other churches. Its more money then going through your own parish but you can do it all in one weekend. HTH!

Really? We met with our priest like a month after we booked our date at the church... I guess every one is different. They just like to confuse us!

Honestly, I think the church secretary was trying to give me a hard time. Her response to me was 'whats your rush anyway' lol I was like '
lady are you KIDDING ME?!'

You can do it anywhere. We are actually doing a weekend upstate at a castle that FH's parents used to host as one of the married couples... it's supposed to be an amazing program.

That definatly sounds amazing.

I'd love to be doing precana in a castle-instead of a musty church basement !

I am going to h E L L

What is it with church secretaries and the attitude?!?! I swear you must have to be the nastiest person in the world to even apply!! I keep on reading posts about how many problems girls had with secretaries at their church. My secretary double booked my wedding!!

My priest was the one who told us everything we had to do and when the pre-cana classes were.

RVC St. Agnes is the Archdiocese for LI so you should have no problem doing it there.
