Precana questions

Precana questions

We are going to our weekend precana this upcoming weekend. We have lots of questions that I hope you can answer. What exactly goes on there? Do they help you with the layout of ceremony, like readings , music, etc? Sorry if these are stupid questions, no one really close to me has ever done this before!

I didnt do the wekkend pre-cana. But they DONT ask you questions based on your music, ceremony. That you do later on.
They talk about relationsips, such as financial issues, children, love, etc. It was so long ago I cant rememebr everything. I really enjoyed going to mine. We always complained that we had to go, but when we walked out of there, we said it wasnt so bad
Have fun.

Re: Precana questions

Nothing in pre-cana deals with the ceremony. Mine consisted of a series of quizzes in a workbook about things such as finances, addictions, and sex. We took the quiz separately then went over the answers with our fiances. Nothing was ever read aloud and no one saw the quizzes except for the 2 of us. We also had group sessions where we basically discussed where we met, how he proposed....etc. Most of the time we were lectured by couples who were married 30+ years and how they made it last and got through tough times. It was actually very interesting and helpful!

We just did our first session. They do not go over that stuff, you have to do that with the priest or deacon. They discussed regular life issues, children, money, etc. Each week is a different topic. Next week is finances, third week sexuality, fourth week is an overview. It's all very personal and nothing even goes back to the church.

Ok another silly question then, where do I find out that kind of information?

Re: Precana questions

Usually the church gives you a book with different reading choices, the layout of the Mass/ceremony, different prayers, etc.

I'm sure you can do a serach online too for various songs/readings/vows, etc.

Re: Precana questions

Usually when you go in to set up the date of your wedding the priest you sit with will hand it to you (not at pre-cana)---if you won't be doing that for a while or they have not given it to you, call the rectory. It is a little white book re: planning your ceremony.

First of all....there is no such thing as a stupid question here at LIW's!

Don't worry about pre-cana! I dreaded going and actually enjoyed it. DH and I did the weekend and it was long, but it really wasn't bad. You discuss all kinds of issues and situations that you will come across in your marriage. You learn about each other. It's fun.

As for the order of the mass...We were given a book by our church called 'Together For Life'. It listed all the reading selection suggestions and will help you plan the order of your mass.

Good luck with everything!!!
